Need some advice / opinions

Postby Eiko » Fri Sep 27, 2013 2:43 pm

hello,

i have been playing this game for a couple of days now, i read a lot in the wiki, created my first character and gained some experience.

however, i started to feel quite lonely in the course of time. i sure had a couple of neighbours, but all advanced and i never actually saw them (or i probably just missed them(timezone)).
i read some topics in the forum where people were recruiting new people for their village, which was quite appealing but i am not that kind of person that likes to be surrounded by a lot of players. doesnt mean that im antisocial or unfriendly or something like that but i prefer building something with..i dont know..maybe 2-3 more (active) players n have a jolly good time than joining a bigger village.

so far so good. now i wonder, what would make more "sense". i ve seen some posts, which said something like "uuuhhh!! ò.ó if u join our server n dont join our village n u happen to meet us we will rip your ass off n feed em to the beavers n destroy the rest of ur stuff".

so im quite unsure what to do right now. does it make more sense to give the bigger villages a shot? or should i rather find some people and try our luck on our own and risk being raided and wrecked every now and then by a superior number of better armed villagers (or other people)?
i am aware of the fact, that there are a lot of idiots everywhere who kill newbies for fun n so on, however, since i am new, i would appreaciate some advice or oppinions. hopefully i am able to make up my mind to a suitable solution.

thanks in advance for the time reading my text.

best regards

First, what country are you from? Many people meet people from their own country and time zone and enjoy playing with them. That might be the easiest solution.

Towns can be fun but also very demanding. Many towns require commitments before they'll let you in. Other towns are more open but also more dangerous to live in. Check out the Planter's and Pilgrims section of this forum.

As a side note, if a full town is not what you are looking for, there are occasional posts in planters & pilgrims looking for someone to fill a three-person claim or similar.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

well, im living in europe.

yeah i can imagine that they can be fun but demanding =/ however, im a working person, means i have only have time after work / on weekends so im not sure, if they want me to be online 24/7 whether i can meet the requirements (or something like that). i try my best and im a fast learner but i might not have the experience needed.

what do you mean by commitments?

Keep in mind that towns that invite you to live with them generally take pretty big risks if you turn out to be a griefer/thief. It is currently very hard to manage towns with non-100% thrustworthy folk well.

i see, well that is understandable! hmm... i think i will keep roaming around the planters&pilgrims for a while and if i dont find any people who d like to join me, i will probably join a village. if someone should ever be interessted in letting me join despite the risks. :D

well thank you for your time and your answers. this really helped me :) i appreciate it.

If you are on Plymouth he wants you to contact the Tribe to start paying and then they will be your 'friends'.

Quite honestly it depends on what server you are on. If you are on Plymouth you can join a large village so long as it is in good standing with the law and everything should work out fine for you. The other servers are significantly less civilized and, as such, come with pros and cons to both options.
