Tracking stolen stuff

Postby Saladin » Tue Sep 24, 2013 9:37 pm

I wonder how it's possible to track stolen items. I have seen only two available tracking options in game. Tracking predator and his lean-to but not the option to find the stolen stuff. Please help!

Sorry, I don't think there's a way to find your things... Only to seek retribution, which may or may not lead to your things.

You will need to have the actual larceny scents. If you have these, there will be an extra button (track stolen goods). It can be an issue to get the correct scents, and i'm not completely sure on all the mechanics for tracking stolen goods (when it is possible, e.g. will it work for logged out persons and such). I haven't bothered to test yet.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

Ohhh that's what people were talking about with scented items, thought they were just trolling lol. Apologies for the misinformation.

I'd like it to be just a troll, but alas that's not one >.>
So yes, basically, and as far as I know (learning by listening around is not always the best source of information), you can track stolen goods. But it will not always send you to the stealer, only to the place where stolen goods are.
Nonetheless, those items must still exist, by exemple, I don't think my friend can track the scented food he gave me since I ate it all :D
I don't know if it works when you build something with a stolen item tho, like a chest with stolen dry boards, or whatever.
Trust your enemies more than your friends. Your enemies will never betray you.

I wonder if a scent will lead to the user who consumed the item? Anyone know?
