Careful... I just had the same thing happen to me this morning, I had 15 boxes and 10 baskets full of **** that they emptied entirely, including 4 compost bins I -just- built, and destroyed my leanto. They couldn't have possibly bothered to steal everything, unless they spent hours shuttling **** back and forth, it was largely junk, so I assume most of it they just threw on the ground and let decay. Either way, it set me back quite a bit...

Point is I won't be rebuilding at that spot because I expect they'll be returning. I was unclaimed on that spot for at least a month before someone found it, but because they destroyed my leanto (requires waste right?) having some walls up wouldn't have helped unless I had braziers, which I won't be able to afford for some time. You might be best off abandoning your fields and wandering for awhile and bunkering up in another spot. Though I suppose that at least with walls and a claim you'd be able to get evidence, but killing someone's raiding alt isn't very good compensation for losing fields full of **** :\

Yeah if you don't put claim anywhere, this shows that the place where you settle is not yours. And so you will never find the thiefer because of this reason.

Actually, it's possible for fields to reset or get otherwise borked.
Not sure if it only happens when there is noone online around for a long time.

Sometimes they will look like harvested, but in fact they will be growing and soon they will look like freshly sown.
Sometimes they will be in earlier growth phase than when you saw them last time.

Tested on a claim with not empty upkeep.
