Is there any effective way to hunt & kill a raider?

Postby TriluneGod » Tue Sep 03, 2013 4:25 pm

This is just curiosity, but say a raider group came through and raided, is there any guaranteed way of getting back at them?

my group hasn't been raided, but I'm just wondering if there were a way to make them pay if they did come through.

Track them down, summon them, kill them, and take all of their stuff.

so if you're able to find their homestead can you summon them no matter what? I've heard if they aren't in boston and are not offline that you can't summon them, so they could hide in a town or something until the scent wears off...

I'm sorry if I'm asking dumb questions I'm only about 3 days old to Salem or any game like it, so I'm just flopping around trying to get things figured out, lol

If they are offline you can summon them and kill them without them doing something back to you.

If they are in Boston you can still summon them.

If they have no leantoo or homestead you can summon them anywhere and they die right after you summon them.

Ah.

How do raiders commonly defend against this? I'm sure there's some method of circumventing summons.

Even if you hide in a town they can track you to that town.

Build a large base with 6+ walls, a tree wall or two, 100+ braziers and a town claim.

Aw.

So basically you have to raid them back?

That or just wait for them to make a mistake, evidence lasts forever, or at least a really long time, so if you ever catch them using an unprotected leanto or claim as a homestead you can summon and kill them.

To be more specific, they can't fight back. However, summon killing is still a kill, so you are then vulnerable to being summoned and killed. It will happen, so just make sure to use an alt.

Specifically, it lasts 10x longer than the crime scene does. Murder caps out at 90 days. Others are much shorter.

Good evening,

TriluneGod wrote:So basically you have to raid them back?

Effectively, yes. Be warned doing so will leave crime scents, which they can then use against you.

Unless you're well-defended and established (in which case, you likely wouldn't have been raided anyhow), your best bet is going to be to contact whoever "the law" is for your server. Usually they will handle such matters free of charge, unless they're the ones who raided you.

Faithfully,
