Using the forum - HELP!?

Postby nico54k9 » Tue Sep 03, 2013 9:10 am

Greetings all
I am a complete noob when it comes to forums, as you could probably tell by the amount of posts and the question i am about to ask, so please done judge.

What i would like to know is, is there someone that could give me a step by step process for how to:
1. Quote someone else when submitting a post
2. Add an image to your post.

I see the buttons 'Quote' and i am guessing 'Img' when typing, but have no idea how to use them haha.
Thanks in advance :)

When you want to answer with a quote, you can clic the quote button of the original post and it'll get you the answering box with the quote already in it. You can also copy/paste the part of text you wanna quote in your reply, then add [ quote ] blablabla [/ quote] (without the spacs of course), or even select the text you wanna quote and clic the "quote" button of the reply box. You can also add the name of the guy you are quoting with this : [ quote = "the guy"] blablabla [/ quote]
Exemple :
Code: Select all
Greetings all
The image system is quite the same, you add here is the link of the image [/ img] or select the link of your image you just pasted in the reply box and clic the "Img" button.
Exemple :
Code: Select all

(I added a spoiler cause the image is not really tiny.)

Try all the buttons of the reply box and clic preview to see what they do, that's the better way to figure out all this.

Have fun :)

PS : Don't you dare post any picture of our town in there :3
PS2 : Where the hell to you come from to not know how to use a forum oO

phpBB (the software used for this forum) has pretty good documentation. You can find the user section of it at https://www.phpbb.com/support/documenta ... /index.php. Just be aware there's a lot of admin documentation in there, too, so don't stray out of that section. This should cover everything a user needs: posting, managing your account, setting up your profiles, etc. You're not going to break anything that can't be reset, so feel free to experiment. (I suggest you think twice before providing email or other contact information outside of the game through the user controls as anyone may be able to see them. Send these things to specific people by PM if you want to give them out.)

You'll notice the buttons on top of the post form, too. These work just like for your word processor. Simply highlight what you want to modify and click the button to add the proper codes. (You will see the codes and unformatted text since this isn't a WYSIWYG editor.)

Also, be kind to other forum readers. Only quote what is necessary so people know what you're discussing, and not that whole wall of text to add two lines.

If you have a specific question on it, Google seems to have accurate results without a lot of extra crap.
