Finally something, can't complain. Time to buy some mystery boxes.

Are mystery boxes worth the money? Or is it better to buy straight silver?

Silver is just silver. The mystery box could be anything. It could even be silver! ¦]

Also, hooray for updates.

Me too. Anyone have a solution? The client updated and loaded, I logged in, and poof . . . the cleint closed but when I restart the client it says I am already logged in.

Well it depends on your luck, since anything can come out (mostly hats I think).
Basically stuff coming from there cannot be crafted so with the right buyer you probably make more silver selling them (I just buy them to get cool stuff for myself occasionally).

And I also think silver is really pricey there, never bought silver with IRL money.

Edit.

Well never seen this one before..
Condottieri's Hat
It also has 4 slots

Use the Ender client it is better anyway.

Almost everything in the mystery box is worth more than the silver amount. Some is only worth around 100-200s (lady's hat, Peacock mask) at their lowest but that works out to be about the same as the silver buys.
