A grindy, time-consuming MMO cannot possibly succeed with such a severe penalty as perma-death. Who wants to dump hundreds of hours into a character only to lose it after a single death?

Someone needs to wake up and realize you can't mix deep crafting, skill-based progression with perma-death. It NEVER works. Create a PVE, non-perma death server and see if it doesn't quadruple the population. Otherwise, unplug the servers. You are wasting your time and money.

Pvp has nothing to do with the pop. Its that massive grind with zero reward you were almost on until your death made you too mad to think about the real reason this game isn't fun.

A lot of the grind, for many people, goes into your base and alts and you don't lose everything when you die just that character.
Also the devs will never make this a PvE game so get over it.

A) I never died (in case you are referring to me).
B) I love a grindy game, just not one where the actions of someone else can totally destroy all my effort I put into my character.

The game will fail utterly if they insist on this model.

A) I never said convert the whole game to PVE, I said make a PVE server.
B) I have nothing to get over because I am not currently active.
C) Don't speak for the devs unless you are one...

A) The Devs will will never make a PvE server, this is well know enough the last thread on this topic was locked fairly quickly.
B) You're posting here.
C) You know what game this is right? viewtopic.php?f=3&t=7357 The devs expect people to speak for them.

Check Haven and Hearth's population and tell me it was an utter failure...

totally depends on your definition of fail. Salem was meant to go way beyond H&H. It hasn't.

Numbers in correlation to succes depends on the ambition of the developers, not the users.
Haven and hearth and Salem are niche games, hardly succesful yet unique games.

The reason this question/neediness for a similar non pvp game excist is because there are no such games.
Spare me by mentioning the p2p **** games that have been out for a while now.

There is no Farmvile where you need to use your brain, only your wallet and the hourly faceroll.

Too many "meh" games.
