Question about Cross of Saint George

Postby Etaliz » Thu Aug 22, 2013 3:49 am

First off, newbish to the game so a newbish question. Is a Cross of Saint George similar to a claim stone in that you can walk through it like fallen logs, etc.?

Secondly, its gonna be very difficult to setup the crosses to "get the most out of them with my current setup" without destroying some stuff , can you place a cross, use it to place another cross since you have to be within town borders and then destroy the first cross that allowed you to place the second cross, therefore getting more land for the upkeep?

To both your questions - yes.

but generally, using the boundry stones is easier for optimal usage of the crosses. They require way fewer resources.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

I don't get it. How do you get "more land for the upkeep"? .. Wouldn't you be losing some land and then have a 'hole' in your village claim when u destroy a cross?

Crosses cover a 51x51 area, but can only be built on townclaimed tiles. As such, you lose at the least a 26x26 area (and usually a 26x51 area) of tiles which are already townclaimed by other flags.

Assume the existing flags are cover tile set S. If you now put a flag A on the border of S, it will overlap greatly: claiming tiles already in S. If you now put another flag at the edge of the tiles claimed by A (away from S), that new flag will not claim any tiles which are in S. Therefore, zero loss.

Because town upkeep seems to be based on the number of flags/boundry stones rather than the number of claimed tiles, this is the cheapest way to claim land.
