Town Bell Functions?

Postby MaxPlanck » Wed Aug 14, 2013 5:56 am

I looked around, but only see that a town bell is for raiding, and to make enemy raiding more complicated...is that all that it's really for?
I figured it would've let me teleport to it as a town just like Boston, since Boston is a town. I was mislead, and I wasted 2,500 silver seems like it.

Town Chat, larger claimed area for less silver cost, Raiders need waste claims to hit your town.

Pretty much it.

Remember for a raider to destroy anything in that town bell costs them a waste claim now. That's maybe 2500s worth of stuff and 24hr notice to hit you. A townbell is much cheaper than a Pclaim to maintain as well for the size of area you get. A townbell really isn't that bad of an investment.

People can freely walk on a town claim but destroy nothing without a wasteclaim.

Make sure to wall off your working space, even with a stick fence is better then nothing.
Lock the door and voila, noone can get in unless you let them in or they use a wasteclaim.

Thanks for the info guys, I figured it was a waste because I haven't had anyone try to raid my base yet, and if I just make my P-Claim big enough I won't have to worry about town bells being dropped on my base easily, since they need to remove my p-claim with silver to freely raid right?

Someone can steal your land/base if you don't have a town bell claiming it.

On that note, can an enemy place a town bell nearby, build a cross of saint george (or a couple) and still invoke the personal claim?

And what is the maximum amount of land that someone can take over by building authority objects? Can he take over the land that the other town bell is standing on to destroy it?

Oh, well, one more question, does the town bell have to be over my claim stone of my p-claim to raid freely? Or any space I expand, even if the town bell touches part of it, say my P-Claim was 100x100, the town bell only reached 30 spaces in, as it was built 20 spaces away from the edge of my P-Claim reach. Would they be able to raid that small area?

Do the Town Expanders expand the whole town bell around, or just the direction/area you placed the saint george flag?

You don't need your town covered with a personal claim at all, people can walk in town claimed lands but they can't destroy anything without putting a waste claim up.

Conclusion: Town bell is better.
