And that is the crux of my problem with Salem, and I'm pretty sure the reason why there's so few players - the game is just too damn grindy. Levelling up takes vast majority of playing time, and it is not fun at all. PvP might be kinda fun I guess, but it's not good enough to justify trudging through all the tedious grind it takes to get there.

If you had a sport where new players all had to play with a handicap, how popular do you think it would get?

It wouldn't matter what the current state of this game is. Any new player coming into the game is playing at a handicap because they have to put months of work into the game to catch up.

Yeah, months to get to PvP, and even then they'll still have a 20% inherent penalty. And this is why the game is a ghost town.

Nobody disagrees that the game is too grindy, and everyone agrees the mechanics need changed.

Your argument for the majority of this thread was over Legacy humus, and you failed to create a strong one.

Fallacy alerts and bad analogies have lost you this round imo. :|

Of course I would, what with mathematically dishonest arguments like hummus being only 16% of tree purity. Or is tree formula not ((pot + water + humus) / 3) + sapling) / 2?

And the humus and grind problems are intertwined, because it takes a ton more grind to max out trees starting from scratch (where you have to slowly raise humus purity over the generations) than it does using legacy humus (where humus is purified a priori).
