Good morning,
Potjeh wrote:You guys keep bringing up how I supposedly don't understand how the game works, yet you consistently fail to point out factually incorrect parts of my posts.

A response in length, this evening.
Potjeh wrote:This may come as a shock to you, but personal experience isn't the only method of acquiring knowledge.

There is no teacher like experience, Potjeh. Failure to recognize that personal experience is a far more reliable method of acquiring knowledge is merely a symptom of insufficient experiences.

Yeah, OK, you go and find that hydrochloric acid is bad for you from your own experience.

Below I respond to Paul. I've spoilered it because it looks a bit spammy.

Everything I said still applies, and you're still unable to address it. You might be better off letting your compatriots argue your side.

Everything doesn't apply. How do my goals apply to me leading a raid with 10 people? How do my goals apply to me creating a 500 stat guy? The base destruction and non-competitiveness of the game were where my goals were affected. Issue addressed and done.

Claeyt wrote:Meh, I've had a little base wrecked now. Same feeling. I've always just logged off.

Losing "a little base" will not give the same feeling as the death of a significant character. Claiming it is just shows you're speaking from ignorance.

Well I put time into it, losing a character I'm sure is different and luckily I haven't done it, but still, I've lost stuff.

Your post history stands as evidence you're lying.

I've been one of the biggest damn advocates for growing this game for months now. Helping noobs, posting on game sites, etc, ect... I've never intentionally lied anywhere in my posts.

It will be harder than before the nerf.

You seem to have a fundamental aversion to hard work.

 Maybe I do, I really only play about 4-6hrs a day. And when I do I like to mix it up with mapping, exploring and such. I farm/build 3-4 hrs then go exploring to relieve the grind. This isn't a titan building schedule I'm sure but it's not super casual either.

Roll your eyes all you want, your position is still unsound and your arguments poorly-reasoned.

Mine are fine and you know a wipe is coming as well as me. The only question is will they fix the problems so that they can wipe.
Changing gears:
Ikpeip wrote:
JeffGV wrote:Because those items are the byproduct of a different take on balance - one that ultimately failed and was taken out of the game. Same as the titan characters.
And the devs can't balance the current game taking in consideration both the legacy items and the new ones. The firsts are vastly more strong. Balance using them, and the byproducts of the normal items will be far too weak. Balance toward the normal items, and the firsts will give insane advantages.
You're right in that they should fix the underlying mechanics. But that isn't enough. Once they've fixed the foundation - once and for all - they should start with a clean slate. So that when they balance, they do it with the items and resources players are supposed to have, knowing that they will have those and just those.

It's probable that the updated gluttony system will make it easier, overall, to humor up (if it makes it more grindy for less reward, these discussions are probably a waste of time anyhow, as population will continue to dwindle). It's possible that the updated system will reduce or eliminate any advantage from legacy humus and seeds. With that in mind, isn't calling for a wipe first and foremost any time a discussion of these mechanics come up a bit premature? Surely you can understand how playing the wipe card every single time gets a bit tiresome? That's why people are snapping at the Apocalypse folks - protecting their hard work is part of it, sure, but primarily it's the incessant harping to eliminate the top factions and pretending it's out of a desire for "what's good for the game." Speak honestly looking at what needs to be fixed, instead of what you'd like to see happen as a side effect, and people will be a bit more polite. Except Darwoth. I don't think he likes you.

The Apocalypse folks are right. It's already here. The population has effectively wiped the game in a different way unfortunately.

The situation at hand is more akin to you claiming tomatoes are poisonous, despite the fact that we've eaten them personally and can attest they are safe. Are you related to John Gerard?

For someone who complains about strawmen so often, you're quick to set them up yourself. No one's saying the only way to learn something is by ingesting it and consequences be damned. I am saying that our personal experiences - things that have actually happened - outweigh your untested theories, which appear rooted in your inability to come to terms that people you don't like are more successful.

Observing the affects of hydrochloric acid through actual experiments will yield a deeper understanding than if one were to just read about it abstractly. The belief that experience doesn't matter is a folly of the inexperienced.

My favorite part is now he has completely left out the value of "Considering the Source" when evaluating information and professional opinions of systems.

Your right. I just let a homeless guy do my taxes and diagnose my medical condition. He is no professional but I'm sure his opinions on the matter were just as relevant to what the accountant and doctor said.

Sooo... you're saying a homeless guy can't be a doctor or accountant with a pedigree?
