This game is one of the best I've ever played and I'm not fanboying. The game is another world and it has the balls to be different. It's fun and interesting to play it.

EQ Next isn't going to be out for another year or so, but I'm sure by the time it does come out if things keep headed in the same direction that they are there really wont be anyone playing Salem :( and that's sad. Because this seriously is one of the best games I've played in a very long time. This game is great and has so much potential.

I watched the live feed on them announcing it today. There will be crafting. There will even be inventing and then selling your own inventions to other players. You will be able to make real money from any of those ventures. They did not go into a great deal of detail on crafting other than that they do not want it to be a grind. They want you to find the ingredients gather them click to make the stuff you want and walk away to be able to do other things while your stuff is being made.

It looks awesome.

I played a lot of Everquest, but skipped 2. You can sign up for the beta on the site if you want, I did after seeing that it was coming. I think it starts in September but not sure.

It sounds like it's going to be F2P and have a decent crafting tree. It's got the conductor from Skyrim doing the music. It's going to have 4hr night to day timing, supposedly. Anything in the world can be destroyed permanently and they're going to have permanent landscaping and player changes to the world. It's advertising as the largest world for an MMO ever created. It's not perma-death of course. Still looks like maybe the next big thing. It's going to be going up head to head with ESO which is also coming out next spring.

it uses the Planetside 2 engine, has anybody ever played that?

There's been a couple that's played it, Claeyt, but only one had mentioned it. I believe SOE lists PS2 as F2P, so try it out.

Thanks for the link to the video. Interesting watch and several of these look good. God, I need a new computer!! :(

I didn't play much on any of the Zek servers mostly just normals. I almost never play on teams In any MMO's so I tried Rallos for a bit with an alt account but never transferred. I'm sure you were on Discord when it was around.

I haven't played in years and years, but I'm still occasionally on some of the forums so I'll avoid any cross game politics by revealing which server I was on or my main account. :D  :D

Either way tho, are you signing up for the 'Everquest Next' Beta Darwoth? Is your guild getting ready to roll on that?

everyone in my guild including myself already signed up, but we have a few people with friends in the industry that are typically able to get us most betas (sometimes alphas) we want for games from the top publishers, so i expect someone to be in game before that.

that does not mean we think the game will be good though, in fact given the sony involvement it will probably be ****. but i am withholding judgement for now. either way i will still be here in salem until the plug gets pulled or the game turns around so long as there is not a wipe.

Nice, yeah, I don't know anybody over there, most of my alpha contacts are indi's or Bethesda. It looks good, but a little too "WoW" for my tastes. Do you guys know exactly when the Beta starts? Someone told me September on a forum, but he wasn't 100%. He also said if you have an active EQ2 account that your chances go up by a lot, so I'm probably **** out of luck.

The dev's said they want to release landmark this winter. So that everything created and worthy of adding into the game from landmark, can begin. I am assuming beta will likely begin around that time to be able to try out the new idea's being added.
