Not realy, defenders doesn't have to run, they even can't run away, so they would use heavy armors to fight/tank raiders.

A moronic update to consider at this state of the game. If the game was thriving sure. However it is not. It would be perceived as poisonous mushroom patch.

(not to mention the update would most likely break more things than fix.)

how does conjuring up a completely nonensical system of artificial limitations where ****** dime a dozen items are better than extremely rare expensive items benefit the game?

Because it makes no sense having other infusions beside "the best ones" otherwise.
Even if they add other ones, unless they are "more powerful", no one will use them. Cause people will always use that couple ones that are stronger. And in that case people will have to replace all their equipments to stay on par - basically a vertical progression.
Put DR on them and you can both limit it and force other choices.

1) Stop strawmanning, buckskin inlays wouldn't be better than snake skulls just because first inlays would be better than fifth skull.
2) If there was ever any part of this game that cried out to be botted, it's stump farming, making something as mind-numbingly grindy as farming up a bunch of snake skulls an absolute necessity for PvP is just retarded.
3) Presumably artifice will eventually have purity, making it so you have to have high purity products from all the industries is a lot more engaging grind than spamming same **** over and over again.

We are dealing with math here, so the buckskin might be better than the 5th snake skull, so everyone is going to have 4 snake skulls and 1 buckskin. People are going to go for the numbers. You change the numbers up with diminishing returns but someone is still going to find out the best combo and then everyone is going to slot that combo. You haven't really solved your issue.

of course he has addressed his issue because the real issue is not that he thinks artifices are "boring" but that he does not want to put the effort in to make a high end combat set, so he wants to get those who did nerfed.
