Let me take a side note here to say that your thoughts are taking you down a very dark path. A path that once traveled will change you, forever. Those scents will be out there and the lifespan of your character will become finite. I urge you to reach out to those who have traveled this path before you and ask them to carry you through these difficult times for once you open the door to crimes it shall not be closed.

If I could break it down into a chart for mitigating the risk of dealing out justice you have 3 realistic choices
1) find an established player to take the risk for you.
2) Create a well fortified base. (susceptible to raids from higher characters)
or 3) (which I find most interesting) Find the perpetrator's leanto, claim over it, destroy it, journey to a random, unfrequented location and build a leanto, summon/insta-kill the perpetrator and hope no one committed enough stumbles upon your scent.
3.5) there may be away to cover your scents which would make it even less likely a causal player might find those scents, but may, depending on how obvious this method is, make the scents more visible to a top tier player.
3.6) Combine with 2) for added protection.
Very intriguing stuff. I had been thinking a lot about cover scents up, but as a causal player lack the resources to really test this out.
Am I missing anything?
