Everything sounded ok until you said this.

I actually like this idea. This game is hard to pick up out of the box even for a well seasoned mmo gamer. There is a lot of little stuff you should really learn to be successful in this game. Sure you can get lucky with a spawn in a deserted area and live life for a while unbothered but in my experience that's pretty rare and knowing how to maximize yourself as a character at every level of the game would be good.

I also hate that even in town when people are talking all you see is ??? ... is there a reason we can't even know people's names?

I had one successful encounter in this game meeting another person and it was a person who literally spawned like next to me about 20 min after I spawned and we were both noobies. Meeting people early in the game and learning it together most def could help you find someone to build a town with at some point.

Seems to me that everytime people want to be more social in an MMO game, everyone that's here is all "No man, I'm too hard core for that... wilderness man ftw!"... like... it's an mmo... the whole point is to interact....

What you experienced is much different then recruiting for a village. I don't think you have any experience with playing in a village to comment on this matter.

I was really directing that towards the noob island idea. Not sure why the idea of giving the opportunity to easily find people upsets you. The way you are approaching this is setting the game up to have a small group of people who play it religiously with no 'new blood' ever running through, which I guess is fine but then I wouldn't really expect this game to take off in the way I think the devs are hoping. Not everyone wants to go balls to the walls hard core in this game, having some random people to muddle through learning stuff is a lot of fun and something I have done despite your assertion I have never played in a village. If you're looking to just run around killing people and stealing stuff as your sole enjoyment of the game then no, random find people channel won't be great but for others playing casually just wanting to chill out on a social game then I see no reason why an MMO shouldn't have a general channel/find people/zone/whatever. I don't know of any mmo out there that has found success and doesn't incorporate some level of 'global' channel.

I understand you are new and know nothing about the devs but you may want to do some research 1st.

Also inviting random people in gets you and your village killed along with being looted.

Then whole point of recruiting is broken, if I am playing mmo I should be able to create new community with people I don't know, here I have to invite RL friend to feel secure... it is very broken and won't lead anywhere this game.

Who is stopping you from doing so? There have been MANY betrayals from inside clans in every mmo. Are you saying that all mmos should not recruit outside friends?

True, but in most mmos single betrayal won't delete all your town warrior alts and won't delete your town, so risk vs recruiting here is just to big.
This is new game genre and it require new ideas about "how to create community" and communities require new ways to protect from spies, right now there is zero protection, since you can easily create many accounts on forum and pretend you are good guy from RPA new in salem. We have game for 18+ only, so why not make veryfication by paypal acount or credit card? It would solve many problems.

There are lots of ways to build a community with people you don't know IRL and still be safe. Your problem is that your not using the protections that the game gives you correctly.

While I don't agree with darnokpl, I would like to challenge your statement that the game incorporates anything that would stop betrayal. For a town to have any semblance of operation people need to have permissions to the tools they need. Once someone has been granted permissions, often via becoming a member of a town or being granted such on a personal claim, there's nothing that you can do to stop them from destroying these tools, wiping out storage, and generally causing a huge mess before teleporting away without facing any music or leaving any criminal scents.
