unable to launch the application

I just fond out about this game and thought i would try it. unfortunately i can't seem to get past the blasted installation. when i first start the launcher a java 7 loading screen pop's up. a few seconds pass and i get a error that says unable to launch the application. so i go into the details tab and it says java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect

i realy want to try this game. is there a way to fix this. one more thing i am running windows 8 with java 7

You seem to be having trouble connecting to the server where the client is hosted. Could be a firewall on your end, could be some trouble with the server, Try Ender's client to make sure it's not the latter. You should use this client anyway, it's much better than the default one.

I managed to get it to work but know my character and all the other npc's are invisible.
