Mouldy Board| Can mould come from players or forageables?

I have made the decision of not paving the land around my timber piles. And I'd like to know if anyone out there can tell me if stuff like mushrooms can spread mould to my timber pile.
Also, I'd like to know if I can create mould by walking past my timber pile (or just standing next to it).

And one more thing. Will the timber pile continue to grow more mould if it gets infested with mould just 1 time? .. For example, I've had a snake chill out near my timber pile. I killed it, but I guess it infected my timber pile with mould. Will that one infection continue to ***** up that timber pile or is it "cured" from the moment I kill the snake and onwards (but with some mould from when the snake was chilling near the timber pile)?

I've never had foregable items cause mold. To my knowledge it has to be items like walls, trees, etc. general rule of thumb I've used is if you can't walk through it (not including claim stones and logs) it's fine. Walking by it should be negligible if anything although I'd be highly curious about animal corpses. Live animals wouldn't hang around long enough in theory to cause any mold but animal corpses or stationary players is something I would not have a definitive answer on and might be worth further inquiries or research. In unrelated news, who would like to be knocked out by a timber pile? For science?

Not sure if mold growth is exponential. I think the wiki mentions objects being near it introducing the chance but its a pretty clear resource for most if this.

Do timber piles become mouldy from being next to a cliff/hill/ridge?

Stumps do not spawn.

When cutting a tree, this leaves a stump. Over time (random) these become hollow stumps.
You must have built your timber pile next to a tree stump.

Is whether a board becomes moldy or not decided upon building the timber pile or upon harvesting?

If I accidentally built a timber pile next to some old stumps but destroy those stumps before the boards are ready is there still a chance of mold?

There is always a chance for mold and a chance for no mold.
