large ships would be a good addition even if they would mostly be used on the coasts, if large ships were implemented then people would start building towns on the coast just for that and they would get used a lot, there are also a lot of places where large river segments and lakes connect over a few supgrids or more of distance, maybe making it so a number of people could lift and move a larger ship over land the way multiple people can use a ram in HH would be an option to get further use from them.

Large ships would be a bit of work, but not that hard, from an implementation point of view, maybe from a coding point of view... They could use they larger ships already in-game, such as those found near Jamestown and the tutorial area. They add movement and storage to them, and you have a large boat. Make them them the slowest boat, and lakes seem larger, decrease speed per storage added, and you have some realism and balancing. Add speed per crew member, and you have a viable reason for people to want more people in their group.If they added cannons, they could have sieges, sea warfare, and more involved piracy. All they'd have to do is model a cannon, maybe add a reload timer. For each crewman, decrease said timer. Use the sounds and smoke and stuff from the guns already ingame, and done.

Truly, adding ships and ship warfare would be relatively "easy". If they added new inspirationals as well in the deep water, it would also draw people to lakes and 'oceans'. More coastal towns, plus an influx of people drawn in by the addition of stuff and such, and ships become viable.

Actually being able to build platforms and rigs on the ocean that you could build on and such would be cool. Add some more ocean features like whale hunting and such too.

Maybe we could mine for oil there also. Or make a water world like city and smoke out all day, we could be called the smokers.

Perhaps ships on the coast could be used to sail to the Old world? just like a small part of it, but it would provide new and unique advantages and items to buy. You couldn't colonize over there, of course, but being able to visit would be a nice touch.

Sailing to and from the Old world would fit into the game, I think.

perhaps have a few islands you can colonize as well on the way over~

Why couldn't you colonize the old world? I bet the Chief would love to colonize the old world.

I think it would be historically accurate for the natives to be able to take over a British ship and sail back to England forcing their ways upon the white man.
