Hollow tree stump mechanics.

I have read that they have a small chance to fill up every time a person loads into a map tile. But can that item disappear on its' own or does it just keep stacking forever into the tree stump until it's full (6)?
Also, does it matter who makes the map tile load to provoke an item to spawn? Can the same person teleport back and forth between Boston and his leanto to make the trees around him spawn?

Essentially, what I'm trying to determine is whether I should look in the tree stumps around my base often or if I should only look in them on occasion.

It takes a while for an area to despawn so you can't just jump back and forth a bunch you have to wait a while until the current foragables despawn and then go back. You the chance to spawn is fairly low and I'm fairly sure they just stack until full so you don't need to recheck too often.
