for my own education what indicates that it is giving me problems, just the higher latency? is that normal for my location (west coast united states) i can see if the servers were based in europe somewhere that i would have ping in that range.

for what its worth i am not noticing "lag" in game, just the afore mentioned issues.

Just eyeballing it, ~200 is just plain bad ping no matter where you're connecting to. Anyhow, I think your best hope is your ISP rerouting their connection to the game's servers so you don't go through telia. I'm a bit out of my depth here myself, though, so there might be other options I don't know about

well i know its bad ping but most euro games i have played have been in the 170 - 200 range given the distance from here to there but the lag is noticeable in the gameplay, other than nothing working right i cant detect any lag in game.

i may always have ping in that range to the server, still why would 190 ping keep **** from downloading/working properly?

i appreciate the attempt at help, but that is not going to fix my issue.

when the game wont even download all the way without hanging up halfway through until you close the program it has nothing to do with ping, which is likely what i have been pinging for the last two years anyway.

this website is on the same server from what i can tell, and one second i can refresh/post just fine instantly with no delay. the next it will sit there trying to load until i try again or it times out.

edit: double posted while timing out, lol.

Eh, I've seen this **** before multiple times. The javawebstart hanging is a known bug in all versions of java...it has to do with verifying the certificates as it downloads the package(s). Try deleting all of your java certificates for seatribe/enders in the java control panel...I got it to work by doing this. The stupid icons not loading is because of a timeout, or latency issue while downloading one of the resources...stupid client server doesnt account for these kinds of things and eventually it would just make the client error out with a report pointing to whatever .res got ***** up. Delete your java cache or .salem folder with the resources in it and try again.

I would say it is definitely a problem with your ISP (before my isp upgraded I was having both of the aforementioned issues frequently). But also, the server is poorly optimized to handle packetloss while downloading the resources ingame. I think if the server could recognize packetloss while updating a resource is should automatically delete and restart the resource update, but it doesn't.

guess i was right after all

If you have a decent proxy, try playing the game with a proxy, aslong as it doesn't connect through the same hops it might fix it for you (until your isp solves it)

If somebody would host their updated .salem folder, or host an offline build of enders/.salem, we wouldnt have problems with javawebstart or resource downloads. ***** retarded how the game doesn't come in one complete package and HAS to use javawebstart, and then download all of the resources seperately as they are needed in game.

whelp, dunno what the issue is but this blows.

internet service seems normal to me but who knows.

this site/forums works one second but not the next needing a refresh.

have upgraded/downgraded numerous times from java 6 to 7 with various versions, have cleaned java cache and java certificates numerous times, have deleted salem folders reinstalling the game numerous times, reset my internet modem and router numerous times, rebooted computer numerous times, ran numerous virus scans from 4 different name brand companies just to be sure, even defragged and all the other typical game ***** one does to cover all of the bases.

no deal same problem.

if i delete my salem folders and redownload the game before logging in all the icons etc reload again and i end up with a different set of ***** up ones where the ones that were messed up before work properly again, it also affects world objects like fences and stumps etc.

am i pretty much ***** at this point until some 500 pound indian IT guy 2000 miles away removes his grilled cheese sandwich from the server vent or what?

also why does the game never try to redownload the bugged ****? does it think it was downloaded successfully and thats why it remains bugged until a total uninstall/reinstall? is there a way to find/delete the individual bugged items so that they can try to download again?
