Character transfer (between servers)

Someone mentioned character transfers between servers. I have to ask what is the purpose of it?

No, i don't want players from other servers to transfer to my server I purposely picked a low pop server, not to mention it'll mess with the market some. And appearently on plymouth you can buy protection etc. So, I would NOT want people to transfer characters from plymouth who raised their skills and biles in complete safety of protection. Most games have a risk/reward system or focus to some extent, which these character transfers violates that aspect with developed characters raised in a no risk environment. So no, it's not captain obvious and what is the point when you can make as many characters as you want on any server anyways? The only purpose is to bring a developed character from one server to the other.

I dissagree with character transfers, unless there's a good reason to offer them. It is best to keep the servers separated or they just become identical to each other and might as well merge them at that rate.

That's not what was asked. What was asked was what the purpose of a character transfer was and the answer is to transfer characters to other servers. The framework has already been built and whenever the devs feel that they have a good system of implementation, we'll see it actually used.

The original idea, as it was being discussed before it was finished, was to be able to create servers with themes and such that had unique goods and products. There would be a silver cost to transfer between servers and this would allow for a, say, Halloween or Caribbean themed server to appear offering nifty little trinkets and foods that cannot be grown or found anywhere else.

Otherwise the servers aren't really meant to be a separating wall as far as I know, just more space. People interacting is the crux of an mmo.

I hope sever trade or transfer never gets implemented, the last thing this game needs is the tribe trying to invade other servers.
