a new genre: Massively singleplayer online RPG

Ok, so I typed a huge post and after previewing it, it sounded butthurt and it's not really the case, so I'm trying a new brief one.

The title says it all. I've been playing the game on and off for a year now and even though i've been super casual about it, I got myself to the point when I feel like I'm a succesful hermit, more or less. I've had my deaths and disappointments and after some time I always came back to start over. I love the game with a passion, it reminds me of UO on many levels. I know I'm not alone, and I also know that people that play this game dedicate many hours a day to grinding silly tasks for a bigger purpose.

Why does it feel so bland though? Why is population dropping like a brick? I've been working on a new base for a month now, ****'s claimed but I can't be arsed walling it as seems like there's nobody left wanting to raid anymore. No patch for a month is not helping either.

What are your thoughts on this?

Personally i think it's because people consider Salem a bit unstable, due to the promises of patches, but yet nothing new has been implemented for +months .
then add the paradox split up. no wonder why people has paused it, most people would do if they could see that their investment of time (learning, building and if one likes it, pvp)
could be permanently removed / useless

i still play, hanging around in boston meeting people, farming on the side, but not anything fancy. i got no building project or anything i want to start up with as long as the game seems unstable.

Well, let me explain shortly. Game has turned to ****, updates too. Somehow. Apparently Jorbtar has dropped their brain and doesn't really focus on what to do as they walk like plain ants with no idea. Get that ***** Witchcraft added.

Jorb n' his homeboy Loftar shouldn't have declined the request of getting a 3rd developer. If that's what I've heard. (*****'mgonnacomeforyouandspankyoarseclaeyt) Very, very unwisely done.

They need help if they are gonna develop something new. They have zero **** experience in 3D modelling. And I was so excited to own two rams and watch them ram eachother all day. And dye those son of a ***** into rainbow. Guess that dream of mine can burn.

If they want to gain players, these two options is what I think they should do in my perspective. Suggestions are open.

One, get better merchandise in order to gain $. Money. I don't know how the hell that'll work but I think you smartheads can think of something better.
Second, of course, get more dedicated people to participate in this project if they want to finish it and become superfamous n' money. Well. Just as any young gaming company would have dreamed. A two-man gaming company who has no experience in making masterpiece of music and 3D-modelling is less likely to succeed in this and Salem can mightaswell rot and die if that attitude of theirs won't stop.

So. This is how the playerbase has dropped ''like a brick'', to pressume.

There are alot of reasons actually. They will get fixed in time but its really rough atm. The game is 2 much of a grind with little reward combined with there isn't much to do other then farm among many other things.

Take a break and check out HnH while salem gets its stuff together and keep up with it. You will see how great it will become in time.

....but 2D is not the future. Don't go back to HnH if you love this game, you'll be disappointed for a lot of reasons.

How much time do they have, really? Going back to HnH for them should seem like a failure. Maybe it is. And if they do it, and we do it, the game dies. Yes the grind, yes, the chores, but those are part of the game. Hopefully they decide to fix it and just get something done. We had a mini-update with the corpse fix last week wasn't it? What exactly are they working on? We saw W7 released, and then the corpse fix and that's it for a long time. I'm still hoping for some pent up dev bubble to happen.

1. Not enough content generally. People were playing to test weekly patches. Otherwise - a new player has nothing new to do here after a month of playing. I saw two of my friends leaving the game after playing two weeks.
2. Instability. Too much beta within and too random patches.
3. No more patches.
Then come crafting and grind vs. permadeath, low graphics level, user unfriendly official client, bugs...

Throw up one wall of any type to keep out animals, no claims needed, all hay must be collected by yourself along with any other resources, after 100 humours all animals are basically too weak for you to even find a challenge. The game simply is too underdeveloped at the moment for an offline server to be enjoyable. Were the game finished however, it would likely be amazing.
