I mostly want a new server for some improved mapgen, and merging old mapgen with the new would look weird.

as for Jamestown in the middle, they could just create some new map space north and south of it's borders to have it match the 2 severs on either end of it, map wise.

I think a better solution would be to just have the boats and when you sailed to the boarder you got an option to move to the other server, it would then transfer everything in the boat, characters, stuff, etc... to the new server.

Yes. I like the idea of an NPC to talk to in the main cities for "Instant" travel much better. My concern is that there is an increased "Cost" to adding these new servers. This was a suggested way to "Combine" the lower player base servers so that they become one giant map/world. This server could be known as "Legacy" and anytime a server falls BELOW 50 average users then it is stitched onto the "Legacy" map.

Paradox is charging them for server?

Well Paradox hasn't really talked about they're deal with the Dev's and vice versa, but my guess is that Paradox keeps any Cash store money to cover any server expenses then split any profits with Seatribe somehow. Who knows tho.

......but a 4th server of course would cost more in bandwidth to run. Again, I've stated before, I'm sure Paradox has some sort of mass bandwidth bulk deal of some sort, most game publishers get pretty good discounts for server bandwidth, so it's probably cheaper to run their servers than we think.

Why say something like that if you don't actually know?

Note this isn't related to the mega thread.

Well you asked if they were charging for servers. I said it was a "guess", and "Who knows tho". I doubt if Paradox is doing it for free. Bandwidth costs money. I don't know if the Cash Store pays for it all but it might. I don't know if they're charging them, but Jorb said they were keeping the servers up and running the cash store? Either way a new server costs more.

Also they talked about the split up on that Paradox video from the announcement thread.

Acording to this then the logical move of Paradox, will be a wipe of the 3 existing server that are a loss of money, then bring a new world with the influx of money that a new server have, all this when the game gets nice updates and fixes and if the 3 server population dont rise and stay in the same numbers of this weeks, problem resolve.

What I took from everything is that Paradox will be pulling completely out of the project July 8th. SeaTribe has until then to get new hosting for the cash shop and servers for Salem.

Obviously can be interpreted different ways but:

Effective from July 8, Seatribe will assume full support management and development ownership of Salem: The Crafting MMO. Any decisions taken from that point on will be taken by and communicated through Seatribe to you - the community. Paradox Interactive will start phasing out their involvement in the project from today and on July 8 the game for all intents and purposes will be Seatribe’s to run.

All Paradox did before was cash/shop servers.... So if they are pulling out of their "Full support management" I would assume it has to do with one of the (2) things they actually did in the first place.

I would have thought Fundamental changes to purity/gluttony would require a reset, giving the opportunity to fix other things simultaneously such as improved map generation.
