Java v1.7.0_07

WinXP SP3

I keep getting disconnnected from the server even with the direct download copy.
This never happened before the last update ever!

I just tried deleting everything including the java resources in cache and it gets as far as the Salem.jar resource and hangs. So I'm guessing there is something wrong with your certificate and it's connection to java. As I've just done a complete delete and reinstall of java. Tried a few other java apps and they ALL work fine.

Try to disable your antivirus or check it's back list. It looks like something blocks connection to salem resource file.

Um, don't have an antivirus, no firewall, no other forms of controls. I have disabled them all!!!!!!!!

This came about after clearing the cache as suggested, not Salem WILL not download the jar properly.

Why is it your offline version works? I think someone needs to go back and fix their program, no wonder people are leaving Salem ffs, this is ridiculous and sloppy!

After trying to solve this issue I again went in search of other JAR based games both jnl with online jar comonents, in browser jar apps. Guess what, they all WORK FINE

What problem?

All I can figure out is that when I run either the vanila client, BD, or ender the extracted Java Cache directory in corrupt. I've deleteed it, tried again and it gets stuck at about 80% mark.
I even went as far as removing everything java, reinstalled, and can run anything with java fine except Salem.

I tried your above file;

and this works fine except for the constant disconnection.

I just tried on 3 other PC's, one running Win7 32b java same thing, win7 64b same thing.

Came back to mine and tried again, it finally installed.

Vanilla now works, BD works, other PC's still trying to install with same issue.

Got me puzzled:

We have 5 PCs, a lan networked together at 1gb, a PSP3 all on an internet connection with 2MB/sec. Yet not one of those other connected PCs get a disconnect. Yet salem, every five - 10 mins.
Think someone needs to look at the server or the server side handling of the code. Because I live with a network engineer, a programmer, and myself.

I had the same problem and thought I'd say my results. I read a lot of the posts and temporarily disabled AVG Anti-Virus Free Version 2012.
I have a Windows 7, and this is what I did exactly:

1. Go to tool bar-> Show Hidden Icons (up-arrow icon)->right-click AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 2012->Temporarily Disable.
2. A pop-up came up and I chose to disable for 15 minutes.
3. More pop-ups came up showing the Salem downloads I had tried had errors.
4. I checked the details and it looked like it lost connection, so I clicked the Salem.jnlp file again to download and it downloaded rather quickly.
(During this process it had also asked if I wanted to allow permissions to an unknown publisher and the Salem application in a pop-up, I agreed.)

My problem was AVG Anti-Virus; others might have other issues.
Hope this helps.

Me: In a world of creepy beavers, bunnies that chase you down to the edge of the earth,
and giant murderous crickets; you need to be Jesus.
