Setting up my Base

Postby reolys » Sat May 25, 2013 11:20 pm

Hi guys,

So I wanted to set up my base for good now. As I'm a bit OCD when it comes to planing my home I was wondering if there's a list of the dimensions of objects? This way I could plan my claim and make sure I don't have to pay too much upkeep but still enough place to live in and place all structures I need.
Would be stupid if I plan my claim now, put walls around it only to find out I don't have enough space for all the stuff

another question is about fields: How many should I have? and do I need to place them on my claim or can I just leave them outside to save some money? Maybe just put a fence around them unclaimed?

i believe there's a planning tool you can use.

i think it's best to have as many fields as possible. i don't think it's essential to have your fields on a claimed area initially, but later on when you have crops with purity and tiers and all you would care much much more about keeping them safe. i would place them outside of my claim if i needed to start with, but with plans to extend the claim to cover them. a fence would be better than nothing.

I made a post like this some time ago, and now I see I'm not the only one wondering about this.
Maybe I should collect the data myself and post them in that thread.

You WILL emigrate. Certainly you WILL and faster than you think. There is no point of thinking about Brick Townhouse from the very beginning.

Why would you move? Found better location? Getting into someone's villiage? And most probable: establishing around your mine.

You can also check you someone's defense guide. There are a lot of base screens, so you can figure out dimenions and arrangement

I can certainly help you collecting the data of what structures I know now.

I've been wandering around for 2 days to find this spot, so I will only move if this base will be destroyed. Since I live in the middle of nowhere about 20 Tiles away from anyone I hope this will take a long time.
Also t̶h̶e̶ ... s̶o̶m̶e̶o̶n̶e̶s̶ ... a mine is very close by. ;)

I have 25 fields.. and I'm shutting more than half of them down... The fact is.. its easier to plant ONE field, and pile on the plenty...(presuming that you have a Lime alt.. which you SHOULD).. than to plant 8 fields of the same crop causing 8x the humus cost.. 8x the seed cost... yada.. yada...

if you wanna get secure fast put up a makeshift fence around the perimeter and claim it. easy for you do destroy, but requires the evil doer to have waste.

Just make some fields dedicated to increasing influence. Then make craptons of fields dedicated to cereals to make hay.
= win.
