I don't use those, never noticed a benefit. The only one I use is en-guard when fighting deer.

OK tests last night revealed .. Land above mine 64 above mine 24 inside mine. So are mines automatically 40 units below their area?
I used the CTL-D window.

Ender's darkness tool does not work in mines as it should: the tool calculates supposed darkness from the ambient lighting received from the server. In mines, ambient lighting is very low: this makes the client think it is deep in darkness.

I can confirm that some mines count as darkness for some reason. When I was exploring with an alt, I went inside of a mine and I got a darkness warning as well. A lot of it was mined out, so I figured that the deeper you go in the mine the more darkness there is.

It was in a really old base with 3 layers of stone walls.
