Thats clay, I use pits like that a lot. Simply dig it up and enjoy the fact you dont have to use line to make it (until you want to make purity pots)

Well, I don't have a shovel yet, so I thought asking here might yield an answer. I will get a shovel then.

Thanks! Seems they changed the appearance and now the wiki is wrong (dirt looks different, obviously). Now I'm wiser.

Yeah on your picture, it s clearly clay...but in your first post you described a whity thing...That's why I suggested stone.
