To point out the obvious, the devs clearly haven't played their own game. They clearly don't give a **** about their beta tester's input, they'll continue to do what ever regardless of what anybody says. It just shows how little they care about their user base and pretty much demonstrates a "***** the customers, I don't care about them" type of mentality that will never get anybody anywhere in business.

If you're trying to sell a product, you'd want to tailor it to the needs of the consumer. But the devs will continue to be stubborn and ignore everybody. It's no wonder why this game has never had more users than wurm online.

Whats really obvious is that you have no idea wtf you are talking about.

It is not so simple as you make it out. The key is need, as opposed to want. Simply bending to what the "customers" /think/ they need is a recipe for failure. In the MMO space, the customer is almost always wrong. At the same time, it is also a frequent pitfall (and one quite possibly at play with Salem) for the developer to lose touch with the player's perspective. Here, again, however, this is very much oversimplified. There is no "one" player profile for Salem, and therein, no one perspective. Whether they have any ability to sift through the variety of feedback they receive on these forums and elsewhere to glean meaningful, helpful feedback on the state of their game, its successes and failings with sufficient acuity to be able to retain the good and rectify the bad is unclear. Certainly, so far, they do not appear to have done a particularly adept job.

What is clear is that you are very frustrated and upset :). You should try relaxing more. Maybe some tea? Calming walks. Or playing a game to relax. Something soothing, slow-paced... less competitive and cut throat when compared to something like, say, BF3 or LoL. Like a crafting MMO. I've heard good things about this game called Salem...

Which is all part of why you are careful.

But you do have to take reasonable chances occasionally with entirely new people.

Unless you have lots of completely reliable friends from outside the game.

We didn't exactly sign on to play a "safe" game.

I've signed to play crafting NOT spying mmo ;)

You signed on to play a sandbox MMORPG with permadeath; this automatically makes spying a vital part of it.

You're such a pathetic little whiner.
I don't think you have ever heard of 'constructive criticism'?
I've read quite a few of your posts in these announcement threads, and I've yet to see anything but curses and whines. Pretty repetitive curses and whines at that.
And I do get the feeling that you rarely if ever play, at least you seem not to have even a basic clue about the game mechanics.
Did Claeyt shut up yet?
WARNING: berrymash laxatives can cause your character to explode violently, after eating chymically unstable foods.

Salem is a fully open sandbox MMO with deep crafting elements. The game features permadeath as one of its main gimmicks, along with an in-depth character development system without classes and set roles, where the player can chose which kind of game to play. Taking place in the time of the first Pilgrims, Salem lets you live as an explorer in the new world; building your settlement, learning new skills and maybe fight with your neighbours.

The only place in Salem not built by the players is the main city Boston, which is a safe-zone where one can meet other players, trade, converse and enjoy the social aspects of the game. Outside of Boston only wilderness awaits, and the further you come from civilization the darker and more dangerous the world around you becomes. Until you reach the deep lumberwoods and no longer have to fear Pilgrims but instead witches and hidebehinds...

Role-playing game is harder to prove, but at least the "permadeath" is there.

Ah, permadeath. Yes, we've got it, in theory.
In practice, people abuse alts for everything, especially if it poses a risk. Thus ruining the whole concept.
In the end, this is as permadeath as Age of Empires. Alts getting food in towns (or fishing), alts who fight enemies, alts who...uh...store the relics in a monastery who then disappears? Well, something like that.
