Have you read Sevenless's Guide stickied at the top of this forum? If I recall, there's a basic gluttony guide. It might need to be updated a bit.

Key rules:

1. The total points needed for 1 humor is equal to your highest humor.
2. Don't glutton on the same foods repeatedly. There's a stacking penalty.
3. When trying to use variety, plan a path. If you're going for blood only, use 2 or 3 foods that all have strong blood components, but don't share other humors if possible.
4. As long as you are in glutton mode, you can gain as many points as you want as long as you don't have to leave the mode. Once you do leave glutton mode, you have to fill your humors back up again.
5. Do your best to plan before starting. The interface helps understand the numbers a bit more, but makes it hard to move your food around in inventory so you can quickly click on the next item. If you have a hard time reading the chart on the food, start glutton mode, but don't eat until you find a couple of foods that match up and move them to one spot.
6. There's an unseen stat on foods--the eating time. Some foods are gobbled in a time tick or two, others can take several. If you can eat the slowest foods first and then a couple of quick foods, you'll eat less for the points you gain.

Then you need 15 points to raise 1 BB. Witch's Hats are good in this case as at even low purity they should give you nearly a point a piece. If not quite, finish off with a blackberry, berries-on-a-straw, toadstool, lavender blewit, etc. (The mushroom poison can slow you down, but it's not even close to deadly as long as you don't get in any fights before it wears off.)

1. I've heard that mushrooms are dangerous now, so what are the recommended early foods for raising black bile? yellow bile? blood? phlegm?
2. What early foraged foodstuff can be sold to established players? Is there still a demand for Witch's Cap and other mushrooms?
3. Can one safely fish anywhere within the Boston claim?

1. Still the same. They're not dangerous like snakes or bears. They're just a debuff for a short period of time. You can use berrymash laxative to cancel the debuff (2 oak leaves, 8 berries if I recall right)
2. Wrong thread. Hay is always in demand, though. Otherwise search the Tradewinds forum.
3. Yes. One technically can safely fish anywhere as the fish aren't dangerous. It's only the other players you have to worry about (and the wild animals that will attack, I suppose).

It sounds really complicated and the Sevenless's guide didn't help me. Only the exam of statistic gave me a worse headache. :)
I have never found a Witch's Hats. It looks that my character is spoiled. I really need to find a group because its nearly impossible to play this game from the scratch if you don't have experience at least with H&H (which I have played).

You can join my group)

Gluttony quite easy when you'll try it once.
P.S. Sorry for my grammar mistakes, English is not my native language. Just studying :ugeek:

I'd like to.
I've tried gluttony, probably too much on the same blood foods and now I can't raise black bile. Should I delete the character and start everything again?

A word of warning. Poison from waxing toadstools is minor, but witch's hats are quite dangerous - one of them decreases humours by 20%. I have no idea what happens if you eat more though.

How long do the debuffs last? Is it 15 minutes like that for Crimes?

You can eat them as many as you want to. Each time it just decrease your current humours by 20% (10 - 20% = 8, 8 -20% = 6.4, 6.4 - 20% = 5.12 ets...)

Toadstool debuff is only 5 minutes. Not sure on the Witch's Hat (believe someone said 20 minutes, but don't quote me). You can always make the Berrymash Laxative to get rid of the debuff.

The foods available to you are dependent on your location and skills. Witch's Hats just make BB easy mode until about 20-30. There's plenty of other foods available that you can use to get BB up early game that don't require anything more than foraging and fishing. The hard part is looking up the things you can make on the wiki and trying to understand the numbers and how it all works together.
