Im crafter, i have people to fight. I crafted set's for them(1 person crafting machine). The point is they are "retired"(until waste claim come) because there is nothing to do right now.

For those that have 'end game' as a goal.

I have reached 'end game' and there is ***** all to do.

I have had two non siege PvP fights in all of Salem. PvP doesn't happen. It all comes down to sieging and summon killing.

Also destroying people's bases just because "I can" doesn't sound like fun so that about wraps what is left to do in the game.

Colesies post about mushroom is entirely false, mushrooms debuff is unnoticeable for the most part even at 5 humours (unless witch hat maybe) and even then, 5 humours is not something you stay for too long if you research first, and if you want my opinion it all sounds like someone whining about how a game works, it's like whining because call of duty is a FPS, you basically described everything that makes salem and made it sound like it's the worse game ever. That's exactly what salem is and it's beautiful.

If you want real feedback, here it is

I suppose that is part of the sandbox you set your own definition of what you need to do to "win". My objective has always been to survive in a hostile environment not to dominate the PVP.
The general theme of many who post on the forums seems to be that end game raiding is the only objective you can possibly have in the game and why would you want to do anything else. If that is your only objective then I can see the grind but if you want to be a Titan it should hurt to get there.

I'm glad that you enjoy it but he asked what the differences were and how it could be considered a grind. That is my answer. Judging by the server populations, I am correct. The general public simply does not have the time.

Salem is too complicated and time consuming.
Every time I try playing this game I quit in the second day tops, it's difficult to see any progress and the phlegm system sucks for base building.

it's true

The LP system also caps your daily intake of exp, the study window and the attention are your limit, even if you don't play on autism mode you can still put up a fight against people that are online 24/7.
After that limit is reached you can focus on more productive and fun stuff knowing that nobody is going to punch all of your defense in one hit a week later.

For my 500th, I'm going to vent in color :D

I've said it before and I'll say it again, this is how you make the game less Grindy:

Finish the food, and then stay away from purity, alchemy and grinding updates for now. Let the high % stuff get used up for a couple of months, It's having the desired affect of slowing down the big guys. Keep the brazier critical hits to lower their stats some more.

then

Let's see some Big, Splashy Updates for the non-grinders and HnH players to love. Tons of Clothes, Hats, Flowers and ****. Port some stuff over from HnH, like bee hives, and some of the farm stuff (hops, grapes, tea, and tobacco) Finish Horses and Cattle. Make 3-4 new animals to fight in the Deep Darkness for the PVP guys to find and kill. Simply make them larger versions of stuff you've already dev'd mechanics for, just make them harder. (Grizzly Bears, MOOSE !!!!!!!). This will build the Population back up and keep the high level PVP guys interested and busy.

then

Concentrate on Towns growing. Give specially designed clothes to large towns in the mail. Get people together for safety. Maybe make Towns cheaper to maintain than Personal Claims. Make it difficult to raid towns. This will grow the Population back up.

then

There will be more players for the PVP guys to hunt and it will be easier for people in towns to grind new characters back up, or new players to get better faster by joining towns. This will grow the Population back up.

....and for christ's sake, make the top PVP gear only purchasable through the store. Why in the hell would you make the top gear craftable, you're trying to make money off the Salem PVP crack addicts. Make them buy the 5 slot stuff and better weapons, let them craft the 4 slot stuff but buy the 5 slot stuff off the store. Don't just give out mass drops of new stuff in Live Plays, give them out for bug hunters or uber-testers who communicate with you, like you did with Colesie. Make the guys buy it off the store. Also, sell all the Store gear in pieces for Real cash for those who want another one to slot or are missing a piece of the set. $4 for each piece of Clothing or whatever. You guys are screwing Paradox's money making ability by only offering Packs. Make the store bigger.
