not really, start with a townbell and a stick fence, plant fields and build defense while fields raise.

once you have decent brazier coverage and a couple of walls spaced properly for repairs even a determined attack by several "titans" is easily repelled by 1 - 2 defenders with stocks of repair supplies and coal.

I look forward to new beginnings..I play on Jamestown but I feel sorry for anyone established on the other two servers.... seems to me to be a waste of time trying to catch players with such a huge advantage. With this new system they will skyrocket further ahead due to them destroying every other person close to them. At least on my server our Titan doesn't roam far from home even though he has a bad rep he pretty much leaves you alone if you dont make yourself known. :P Overall I cant wait to get into testing this. I personally like all the crying that happened from the last update, so happy updates aren't as fun for me. The Rawr, I can do this way better than you can ppl are very entertaining.

Good job guys!

If they made a new server now, it would be totally WORTHLESS FOR TESTING, because all you would have is <10% purity crap and the determination of value cannot be made by us the testers.

If anything, ITS THE TITANS who will be doing the REAL testing... TBH the newbs are nothing but an annoyance asking for things when if they got them, they would be totally worthless and pointless at this current stage of the game.

Ok, Get a new server, it would take MONTHS before players were at a stage were they could do tests with meaningful results.

I dont get why you are mad? Whats the harm in testing the current system from a clean slate.. and you and the titan wannabes can test from your current state? Hard to test game mechanics with E-thugs running around charging you to play the game. just saying.. bro.

I just can't see the general public wanting to do all of that when they just want to try out the game for the first time. No one starts up and immediately guns for a townbell and tiered fields. Sort of sad most people quit before they get to the mid-game stages even :/

I suppose a longer timer would be a nice thing to try out. And a possible buff to how hard it is to destroy fields/production items? I'm not entirely sure of what the ideal fix would be, but I'm just thinking of when it comes to people wanting to join this game with say, a few real life friends, siblings etc. People who would like to give the game an honest try together without being wiped out very early on. There's more at stake with developed villages, but as it is currently it's very hard to even get to the "developed" stage on most servers

Granted, but that is also a problem in HnH. People that are established can just randomly find you and decide to wipe you out for no particular reason, especially before you have the ability to build brick walls that at least temporarily deters aggressors. That's clearly also an issue with Salem. I wouldn't know how to adress such an issue, though. Open PvP has always been the staple of both games. Trying to infringe on the right to whoop ass would probably create more problems than it would solve.

If you have any ideas I'd be excited to hear them.

Indeed. The removal of PVP isn't what I mean when I say optional, I'm saying that it is just one aspect of the game. Haven went from a crafting game into a pvp gank-fest that's for sure, but Salem started as that and hasn't changed its ways at all. I'm not sure what a real solution would be either, rams, brick walls and curtain walls at least gave you the feeling of safety though. If you're pro-active in your ram checking you can farmville it up fairly decently and yet the outside world is still pvp fairgame. I believe this is one of the reasons why Haven is able to still be drawing in peaceful players even though it's pretty heavily entrenched in the pvp aspects. You never really lose the feeling of perma-death but you at least have somewhat of an option to play how you please without being griefed too badly.

Ainran had a brick wall up on the 2nd day of world 6 I believe, so it is not just reserved for people who've grinded their way to the top over time.

yeah because it isn't like i have started from scratch four times since i started playing.

How many of those times did you not use silver/items from other characters? How many of those times were on the new purity system?

This is purely an observation and not meant to be an insult or attack in anyway. You put in time/effort/money to accomplish what you did, I give you props for that. What I myself have an issue with, as well as a few others, is that this patch was great for those who have high tier crops. For all those who currently have no high tier crops, this patch was a kick in the balls as some recipes now produce lesser results. So basically a pat on the back to existing/established players (you) and a kick in the balls to new/future players whose "crap" items just got crappier, while yours got better.

Haven't play in hnh for over a year, but I thought that making steel takes some time :?

In order to produce steel, the wrought iron and coal must remain in a continually lit crucible for 56 hours.

So a little over 2 days to finish the gate

Off to work; bbl

by scratch i mean from scratch, new servers and post wipes. only bought silver once to secure a stall early on.

made a character on roanoke under the new purity system and it is coming along nicely for a small part time project.

i also dont have any high tier fields, because as usual the patch comes right after i inadvertantly ***** myself, was in the middle of a base resdesign and they had to go . isnt a problem though, will just have to get some extra hay so i can get my fields up to higher levels of influence than normal.

I don't know why people are ***** about this.. it's a hell of a lot easier to get high tier crops than to do anything with purity. I'd guess it will take me 2-3 weeks max to get 3rd tier stuff? Considering it took me a full month to get 1% purity boards, I'd say that's a pretty good deal.
