transferring claim ownership to alt?

I have a small claim owned by my main. i want to have my alt own it. how can i do this? i understand an alt can inherit a claim from a dead character, but i don't want to kill my main! how do i do it please?

Declaim, and set a new claim on alt. Still you can have more than 1 claim on a character(the only problem is the upkeep which you have to pay with the character that set it).

this is wrong Any character can pay the upkeep on any claim (at least, I'm sure of this for characters who have trespassing rights on the claim, but I guess even criminals can pay upkeep) by simply right-clicking the claimstone with silver. Of course, they won't be able to expand or change permissions (but permissions themselves shouldn't shift around too much anyway, and if you want an alt to take over the claim, that probably means your main will be moving somewhere else and the claim won't be expanded anymore.

A related question: (Kind of): If you give full permissions to a person, can this person change locks in the gates?

Anybody can change the locks on gates as long as they are holding the right master key.
