Your Hopes for Animal Husbandry/New Mobs

Postby colesie » Sun May 05, 2013 6:39 am

I'm curious how the community has been picturing the implementation of domesticated animals and new creatures of the lumberwoods.
Would you like to see all of the darkness creatures with the ability to murder? Would you prefer to be able to simply hermit away with your livestock and live peacefully?
Another thing is, would you like to see a very large weight put onto domesticated creatures, or would you prefer to see them as more of an option and nothing more?

Personally, I've always thought of domesticated animals as a completely separate industry in itself. One that you could dedicate all of your time into and do just fine with. Cheeses, clothing, milk, transportation, everything could be centralized around your farm. I would like to see these animals as a stationary thing but only if you choose for it to be. One example being the ability to tie a rope to your 2-3 cattle and wander the wilderness with them instead of having one large herd in one central location.

As for lumberwoods creatures, I feel like taming should be utilized in order to get some of your animals but perhaps in a smarter way than in haven since that was very time consuming and difficult to understand as a beginner. I do believe that the darkness creatures should be able to murder but only when they were provoked (were this haven I'd say even if they agro you first but since this is through paradox that may be a little too much for the general public)

What is your vision for the future of Salem's creatures? You don't need exact examples, but just how you feel it should be. How much weight animals should play in the grand scheme of things during your time playing Salem, etc

I agree with your thoughts on farming. I think permadeath should be reserved for PK. Animal hubandry should be attainable by all, but should requite specialization so that everyone can do some but not all of it.

I agree. I'd like to see aspects of it start really early on into the game so that it's always present with the gameplay. Gives a more alive and immersive feel to the game.

Somebody ban this retard already, and clean up the thread. Thank you.

I hope animal husbandry is somewhat the same as HnH without all the taming business to get started. It wasn't super time consuming, but I guess it is going to be much more grindy since that seems to be the case with everything in Salem vs. HnH.

Taming was really easy once you got the sign trick down.

All i ask is that purity be able to raise on them and it will be just great.

Yeah, but I didn't think it was very fun at all.

What mobs I dearly hope is sheeps and goats.

They're fluffy and cute.
