So woo-woo wand is 100% a no when looking for copper?

100% in my case. I went as far as exploring a good 300 or so map tiles while prospecting with a woo-woo wand in the darkness and found nothing.

Edit: Not sure if that's indicative of lack of copper in the darkness or lack of copper found with woo-woo wands :P

Confirmed dowsing rod works. Found one in darkness.

Ya woo woo is a no no. I use one and walk for 1 hr without finding any copper node. So I switch to drowsing rod and guess what, I immediately found 2 copper node and they are just 20 tiles from my home and my neighbor home. I did find lots of iron and well with woo woo

Currently, if you wander into an abandoned copper mine (which I have created 3) you will not be able to determine whether you are mining Iron or Copper until you smelt it. I am also concerned about keeping my inventory straight.

Any thoughts?

I think this is intended. It was the same way in HnH.

Well the rustroot extract allowed you to know what kind of ore is in this area.

Not sure if this is referring to my comment.

But I think what he was talking about how a piece of ore does not provide a hint at what type of metal it will turn into until it is smelted. This was the same way in HnH.

As for knowing what kind of ore is there I think some have said that you can tell by the different colors on the mine spot which ore is there. But I am not for sure because I am a bit color blind myself.

I finally found a copper node. I used 6% Dousing Rods that are high in salt. The Copper Ore is 13% pure, high in lead, second is salt. Thank you for the verified radar.xml code. I use the Ender client and now iron and copper nodes show up as orange triangles and are properly identified. When I chip rock on the ore boulder, the ore is identified as 13% ore, I do not have to smelt it to get a percentage reading. My Copper mine is up and running and the mine roof is properly shored up to prevent cave-in.

It's not the percentage reading that's the problem, it's the fact that there's no telling if it's copper or iron ore. IRL, there's a pretty big difference between the two. :(
