Whatever updates you think of, you need to put fancy words in yours. That's the most vital thing you see in every of Jortar's announcement.

Not just fancy words but extremely vague, odd descriptions...

Let me see if I can take a stab at it...

We introduced a new alchemy item. You place an item which has one dimension 50% lower than it's second highest dimension and then place a second item which has twice the dimension of the 1st item's 2nd highest from the lowest dimension and the two dimensions slowly reach an equilibrium up to the maximum of the 1st item's highest dimension as long as it is not twice the 2nd item's 2nd highest dimension.

Tamable bison? buffalo? are they the same thing? that we can use to increase purity by having them eat stuff and turn into slightly better manure that we can grow stuff in to feed them and when they breed maybe a +/- 2% increase in the offspring? and cheese?

We now have tamable ungulants which can be fed a variety of plants but we wont tell you which, that will by a mystical and confusing equation, produce faeces ( at a rate that is top secret, so you will be worried about constipation) that will be able to be used as garden improvers so you can grow a variety of plants ( that we still wont tell you) that you can feed back to said ungulants to fractionally improve your chances of maybe, one day, in the future, possibly, producing (using another weird and wonderful equation) an offspring that may or may not be slightly better than the donor gametes.
The mammary exudate of these ungulants can be adulterated with an enzyme harvested from the third stomach of the infant offspring which will cause it to coagulate and separate into an edible form which may or may not have the purity of the ingredients added forthwith. This edible form will have to be left for a period of time (also top secret) until it basically goes off.

I think you guys are missing the point here. I'm not trying to start a debate on purity. I put this in the ideas and innovations thread for a reason.

Perhaps fix wasn't the best word choice here, I put it in quotes in the OP hoping to imply it was an imperfect term. I am not trying to bring back 99% purity with ease. Purtiy isn't necessarily broken but the fact remains people are leaving Salem and there are major gaps in purity how it stands now. I'm sure these gaps are intended to be filled. The idea of this thread was to identify and suggest some ways these gaps could be filled.

I didn't want this to be just a list of arbitrary suggestions that address purity which is was I put it in the format I did. I also didn't want it to be just my stupid list of possible fixes. I naively thought I could strike up a meaning conversation on these issues. I believe I must have forgotten this was the Internet.

Now this is funny! I haven't smoked weed for almost a year, but today I asked a friend to help me out for the update tonight (Late Wednesday night US Pacific Time).

This is my plan. I'm hoping it all makes sense tonight. If not, I will probably sleep well anyway.

I'm still not sure how I feel about all the changes, since I cannot afford to try alchemy tools. I am a little frustrated with the effort required to produce trees for wood for compost bins, but that is because my proficiencies are too low to overcome the failure rate of sapling growth.

Anyway, great thread. Everyone enjoy the update tonight/tomorrow.

Update 1: Made a wiki account and updated all of the incomplete formulae so people aren't completely in the dark

Update 2: Explained our vision of what PvP and raiding should be like ideally, and how the previous patches help that happen, then took into consideration community concerns and adjusted accordingly, or re-stated firm stance's improbability of changing.

Update 3: Added first brick out of many more to come, knowing that after easily accessible formulae and access to our reasoning, if anyone still doesn't get why we released what we released in update 3, then it's best to just smile and nod, and maintain the newly established discussion with the people that have valid concerns.


I realize only the third "update" has a symbolic hint at actual content, but imo that would be a good route to take with the game. Mostly because I think the devs should like the game they're making while also wanting the playerbase to like it. But then the playerbase will change and adapt, and for whatever amount of players is lost due to Jorbtar making a game true to their own wishes, I'm sure they'd gain other players that feel the same way they do. So instead of bending to the will of a confused amalgamation of angry players, they could just keep making little steps in the same direction they have these last 2 patches, and interact more with the players :D Other than that the game is great, if a bit too grindy for some people, but ultimately I hope we reach a balance between the devs' view of how the game should be and the players' view, so that they can be happy about making a game that we're happy to play, and happy because it's fun while difficult, not because it's easy and we love riding dat ezmode steamroller across enemy bases.

Yeah I agree, I think they are headed in the right direction with their patches, I know things will be different in terms of purity even a month from now, I just want speculate what ways do you think it will be different.

Update 3: From The Other Side
Combat: Completely new system that doesn't suck

Animals: 25 of them to kill and loot to go with that combat that doesn't look like a bunch of autistic 5 year-olds running around in polygons swinging fists.

Extensive crafting system that is meaningful and fun.
