I find the public expressions of modernity to be shallow, vain, stale, technocratic, petty, animalistic, lonely, ugly, egotistic, spiritually lacking and devoid of meaning, and feel instead far more comfortable in what I perceive to be the vertically oriented, familial, richer, fuller, and more integrated world view and symbolism of what can broadly be described as the old order, that is to say traditional, Christian and Monarchical European societies as they appeared -- rooted in the soil of their making -- before the murderous ravages of the 20th century. When I lament Jacobin deconstruction, it is precisely the deconstruction of traditional, legitimate authority and natural order I lament, i.e. the systematic subversion of symbols such as those of -- most visibly -- throne and altar, and their replacement instead with the symbols of money and the guillotine, that is to say corporate neo-mercantilism and democracy.

I agree that modern society can be shallow, vain, stale, etc...., but it can also be vibrant, colorful, an explosion of new things at all points, a world based on the possibility of any future success for everyone, a chaotic mess of dizzying disorder with tastes and world views of people's own making to the benefit of all mankind. Finding decency and nobility within it is easy if you know where to look. These older orders of throne and altar were closed societies of elitism's which did not share power, advance the great endeavor of the growth of human knowledge for all members of all societies, or make better the human condition for all people. They closed the old monarchies of Europe to the world, stagnated, became nothing but ornamental monuments to the past and were replaced for better or worse by the advance of democracy and capitalism which brought their own problems, but also brought an open society and new worlds, both literal and philosophical.

There is no such thing as a 'Natural Order'. It is a creation of culture and is moldable within the society as the last 100 years of social change have proven. It's natural to see order in the past, where now you see chaos, but It was just as chaotic then. There was the chaos of famine, war, disease. There was the uncertainty of the possibilities for your children or a change in their station in life. There was the oppressive weights of throne and altar withholding the hopes of the betterment of all.

Sometimes I feel sorry for Europeans, Their history of democratic change is so boring and unvaried compared to America. They only have the French revolution, the English Civil War, and the fall of Communism for examples of democratic birth. Here in the United States we recognize democracy as a continuous change within the country and never set in place. Our voting rights change every year, it seems. Not only can we can vote for our Politicians, we also vote for our Police Chiefs, our Judges, our School Councils. We even vote for our Coroners.

Democracy is born, not made or given and in all births there is blood and protest. The Democratic aspects to the French Revolution, it's Jacobian deconstruction, and it's "guillotine" can be explained with these quotes about the birth of the exact same 'Revolution' at different times in history:

I do not believe in democracy, nor in human equality before any yardstick other than God. The forms, concepts, expressions and internal contradictions of liberal secular religion and theology are not mine, and I take no interest in them. I consider beauty to be an objective category, and a human value of no lesser an importance than that of truth or justice.

To state a preference towards the negation of democracy is to state the end of the growth of knowledge, the end of the birth of technology, the end of the freedom of thought, the end of a pluralistic world and acceptance of all people as fully human, and finally the end of the human condition.

Within this world, across all cultures beauty is subjective. You're showing nothing but a preference for the objective definition of beauty as defined by 'Western' thought and philosophy. Open your mind to what defines beauty and you'll see that you are given this choice of what beauty is, as is everyone else and their choice is as equal as yours.

I believe that God in his image made men and women separate and distinct. I recognize the fundamental distinctness of archetypes such as 'Mother' and 'Father', and I do not believe that human life or understanding is served by reducing such wondrous categories of structured reality to an undifferentiated muddle of indistinct chaos, i.e. "equality". It follows that I feel no particular compulsion to treat men and women "equally", but on the contrary always with respect for the fullness and integrity of their persons.

Can't a person change and fill new roles? Can't society recognize new ideas of family? Even in this world we live in now, a traditional family can be defined in so many ways. Some may be better, or worse, but they're all still defined as 'family' by the people in them. You have the right to your belief in God's creation of man and woman, and I'll always defend your right to say it, but please don't expect me or others to also believe that, and respect us enough to not force your religious opinion into our families.

I consider any assertion of equality as a value to be incompatible with the recognition of human personhood and personality; the fundamental, manifold expressions of harmonious -- that is to say differentiated and fundamentally unequal -- reality, and the most beautiful qualities of the human condition.

Yes, we are all different and unequal in our creations and places in this world and our paths will be endless. Progressive thought would define "Equality" as:

"a dream, a goal of least inequality and most opportunity."- Douglas LaFollette.

No outcomes are the same, but decency, recognizing others as equal in humanity to ourselves no matter how base and low they might be, and allowing others to dream and achieve betterment for themselves and their kith and kin, these are the goals of equality within liberal thought.

I believe in love, humility, grace, mercy, humor and forgiveness, and in meeting my fellow men in the most Christian spirit I can possibly muster.
