Well... Tipi's would be more appropriate.

Chief? How does Tipi's for the tribe sound?

... or better buildable with a kit ;) wich returns when the tent is dismounted

I had mentioned that tents are precraftable and can be folded then equipped on your character.
thl111 wrote:I was thinking of pre crafting the tent at home and it appears as an object which you can equip on you together with backpack or in case of large tent, it'll take 1 space on sled or whatever transportation implemented later.

So, I think in your case, tent is better than having to forage for hay. Easy to make as they are, sometimes you find yourself in biomes with no grass.

Sounds like a griefers dream.. plop tent outside a claim, break in and steal stuff, go to tent, give stuff to crime free alt, port to boston, sell stuff, rinse and repeat. Currently done with leanto's as they are easily created.

Sounds a great idea, but doesnt seem to fit in to the game unless there is some sleep/rest mechanic as using it for porting saves building a leanto for your stolen goods alt.

Yeah, I did think of it when I suggested this idea. It gives besiegers of town more space for loot too.

About as appropriate as Mongolian yurts. Sure it's the same continent, but never mind the fact it's from a tribe 2,000 miles outside New England.

Haha, thank you for the education.
Any appropriate suggestions for the theme of the tent?

griefers? dream?

i'm not a griefer and i'm sleeping right now :D draming tents and the change to stop in the middle of woodlands, place the tent, port to bosto and sell my "Just-Foreaged-Indian-Neckalges" for an affordable price (35s) without having to use 30 minutes of my life for a stupid leanto... 5 mins to find the place, 5 to find a hollow log to fill with your inv and then 20 mins to take grass and make 2 hays with your free space, come back, make leanto and teleport to bosto

seriusly... that is a bit efforting for who is moving around like mad

PS: id prefer a tent who fit in the unused slot near poket (in equipement window)
seems like it isn't used and the tent could be like a sack on your side

PPS: why you wantn't funny things in that game only becouse they can be abused in someway? devs are already abusing ourselves with those updates and i hope that feature will be added... that will enhance fun curve more
i'm the one who run :|

The issue I have with tents is they basically make it so you can teleport on a whim. Built into this game seems to be the idea that teleporting between places should not be easy. What is the difference between this tent idea and say a magic ring that lets you teleport to Boston?

Perhaps some ways to make the tent less over powered would be to make it only be able to teleport you to your homestead. Lets say you keep it in your inventory, maybe it takes the space of your backpack, it takes a bit to unpack, then you are given the option to teleport home. At home the tent is back in your inventory, so you can't teleport back to where you last where. To top it off the use of a tent leaves traceable "evidence of habitation" for a day or so.

Like probably 90% of you I'd like to see more indigenous things in this game, but I think it should be handled with some amount of tact. Not that I'm implying you are being un-tactful here, just making a point.

I suggest a two types of tents, one made from yellow-stained cotton and stakes and another of dried deer hides and stakes.

Thank you Pistolschrimp.

Tent balancing:

How about setting up the tent spends 80% of your pleghm.
So no running and quickly porting to boston.
I like the idea more then a leantoo, a backpack tent.

Also, maybe give it a small claim space (with upkeep) and no teleport to boston feature.

If you MUST teleport you can 'secure' your items while you look for mats for a leantoo.

Then again, I did always explore with two hay. If I was in Boston I'd get two more hay for my next leantoo before I moved on.
