A certain degree of abusive language is required in trash talking, and if you ain't gonna trash talk what's the ***** point of playing?

Maybe in Sweden, but in the U.S. Conservatives complained about the breakdown of morality and standards of decent behavior as women gained the right to vote and asked to participate in the workforce, as civil rights for minorities were made law, as inter-racial marriage became common, as homosexuals stopped hiding and yes, as women asked to be treated with equality. Sure the PC progressives sometimes go to far towards criticizing, molding, and controlling society. Call them on it when they do, but...

Too many people think that there was some how better morality or standards of decent behavior in Victorian London, or turn of the century America or early 20th century Sweden or at anytime in the past. There wasn't. Some people have always acted like crap to other people or in indecent ways, and some men have always been misogynistic towards women. The anonymity of online gaming brings out the misogyny in men and boys with control issues, who would never say what they say in front of a woman in RL. I'd definitely say humans treat each other better now than they did 100 years ago and that most women feel they have more equality in this moral and generally decently behaved world that has been created and fought for by the progressives over the last 100 years.

Jorb, I'd like to hear specifically and exactly what edifices of behaviors or morality you believe progressives tore down and deconstructed. The paternalistic society, sexual promiscuity (which was just as bad back then), selective suffrage, the family, Marriage, Societal norms in comparison with immigrant communities, Religion, what? Which of these societal edifices specifically do you believe have been torn down by the left and which ones do you believe need to be maintained and required by force of law upon society.

I have plenty of experience arguing against statements like your's Jorb from living in America, and having to deal with religious nuts who believe that THEIR beliefs of what society should be or should look like are the only way to view society. The quicker you learn to live in a pluralistic open society and learn to accept differences in beliefs about what society should look like, the happier you'll be, because nothing goes backwards in time.

Yes, I believe male trash talking is part of the game and okay, even when they do it to women. Women prefer different types of games but guys need to get the hormones out when competing with other guys. It's part of the game as long as they aren't dropping N bombs, or are incredibly overtly abusive towards women, or they're making swastikas with logs in the game ...but hey I know this is going to happen anyways because they feel safe doing it anonymously, and they would never do these things in RL. They're assholes for doing it but like I've always said: "You wouldn't stop and argue with a crazy person yelling '****, *****, filthy *****' at women passing by, in RL. Why would you do it in a MMO?"

I think some girls just overreact to things. If they can't handle some crude humor (occasionally at their expense), maybe they are in the wrong environment.

It is true that women tend to get treated differently, though. I've had several guys flirt with me or call my avatar sexy out of nowhere. I find it kind of funny.

I used to wear a bunny mask and nothing else when I was a noob. You know what's weird? Less people flirted with me when I was naked. Maybe they just thought only a man would have a naked lady avatar. Apparently wearing clothes that cover my entire virtual body is sexier than having my e-boobies flip flopping about.
