It was before August during the last hurrah of the first beta server. They just spawned a few in Boston and people took them for test drives.

Brooms in Salem? Yeah, what Stax said. Jorb even demoed one in the Halloween trailer for witchcraft way back when.
Brooms in HnH? I don't recall them being there. At least, they've never been shown off when I was paying close attention, and I've done enough digging around the old part of the forums (before I started) I've seen about everything that they had done and was posted about.
