Well fist off, Haven's at it's peak. It's fully developed. It has a dedicated group of players with long term commitments to the game. It's fixed the lag (which was only 6 months from what other people told me. But it's done with development, there's no way it's going to be getting any large influx of new players.

Salem is in the middle of development and promotion. Salem has a growing player base some who have never played HnH (Although it has stagnated because of the drain of HnH players with the HnH lag fix) . It has a future, while HnH has seen it's last update. I'll admit, the game mechanics have been in flux, but it's still in development. I predict that the first update with Horses, or Livestock, or most importantly Witchcraft and HnH players will come back to Salem.

And Salem has had over 450 players on between the 3 servers plenty of times.

Haven is no where near complete. Also, we had brooms/horses and all that fun **** before the last wipe.

Yep I've noticed that lots recently when everyone said they were retiring for a while - it seems they are simply fortifying their positions ready for the next influx of players.
I am now in a prime position to dominate

Pretty much this. I'm actually a little surprised by peoples attitudes towards salem who played haven. You'd think they'd be the most active supporters of it, but it seems like we all came over, then quit after a few months  . I personally built a town, got a mine, got farms going and everything, and decided i'd rather risk getting bug rammed and endure horrid lag on a game that i actually enjoy ;).

Out of curiosity though, have there been any huge towns like there were in haven in salem? The biggest town i saw when i played before the world wiped here looked like it had like 5 people in it.

I thought they were done adding things to HnH? Didn't someone say that? My mistake. Have the Dev's stated that HnH is getting horses and brooms back?
Either way, I get it, I'm not hating on HnH it seems like a fun game, just older and the graphics are pretty old compared to Salem. Like I said before, the game mechanics are a work in progress for Salem and are probably better in Haven. It's also a different Crowd.

As to your general assessment of HnH players views about Salem, I've heard it both ways. Some love Salem and don't want to go back and some hate Salem and want it to be more like HnH (prob more). In the end it probably will be.

I may be mistaken. Someone told me the devs were concentrating on Salem instead of working on adding things to HnH for awhile. I don't follow HnH updates. Have they been adding things to HnH besides the lag fix?

Development is on hiatus, but that doesn't change the fact that Haven is only ~20% done (Salem is ~5%).

Well here's one of the problems right here then. Why are they developing 2 games at the same time for the same players? That seems really dumb.

It depends on the direction they take it. But I do think that HnH being more developed is one of the reasons why some players are there instead of here.

When I first tried Salem from Haven it seemed pretty hollow and I went back to Haven. Later with the lag being so bad I left Haven as well.

Now I came back here and I find both strengths and weaknesses in Salem.

As already stated Salem just lacks a lot of the content that is available in haven.

I really liked the last mining I played in Haven and wish Salem had mining where you could explore and connect mines.

One tile farming in Haven made it where you could do better landscaping. I think I miss that even more than the mines.

I think the key system in Salem is better in some ways but worse in others. But over all I like Salem's system better than the Haven one.

I am not a combat player but I think hunting with range weapons seems to be much more useable to new players in Salem.

Having the Hub towns where all players on a server can port to is a pretty big plus for Salem as well.

There are sure to be other reasons for the different types of players but those are some main ones that stick out for me.

In the end I am playing Salem because I have experienced most of what Haven has to currently offer me and there is regular changes/growth in Salem at this time.

So, I hope that it can grow to be superior to Haven at some point. But only time will tell which way they take things.

H&H is fun regardless of the ****** graphics. I joined a village during W6 as a cook and actually had fun baking pies as well as hoarding them all day lol. Very nice experience of grouping in that game. Then there was trading, I bought me a q200 saw for 1 pearl and some flotsams then lost it during a raid. In all, it was fun.
We make sword stone for keeper and pull they do it and excalibur come out. have no make stone to for sword we make sword box for sword to put sword in for sword. -Moniker (Anarchy online)
