Kind of the reason, even if this game got 100000000 players come through it, none of them will stick around because of the pure power imbalance in this game.

Any game that isn't a WoW clone or WoW killer gets negative rep on the forums, but look at the hype score for Salem (mmorpg.com). It was an 8 or so the last time I checked. It's not the 9 games like some of the AAA MMO titles get (and then quickly drops after release because their total crap, relatively speaking), but it's not a 6 or 7 like some of the mass-produced commercial crap from small-medium publishers get, either.

ArcheAge has many sandbox features that Salem has (definitely not a WoW clone), and is rated high on mmorpg.com.

The game as it is now will die 2 months after steam release, because everyone will have realized, that the critical mass to maintain this game won`t be reached. The concept of Salem will work for a small hardcore group of people, but it won`t work for many casual players. If I have seen correctly even the hardcore guys are slaughtering each other ingame (which is fine) and in forums on a personal basis (which is disgusting). Mods are not able to distinct ingame diplomacy and forum justice.

If you are going to wait if this works out, you will lose Salem, as you only will get one try to catch the masses. So please put this game and forums to a higher standard and make it a Crafting MMO and not some sort of bad ass pvp grind kill noobs thing.

Yeah...No. What you're advocating would make matters far worse. Constant fear of PvP is one of the core concepts of Salem, and any change to that would kill the game instantly. The game just needs about 3000 hours of labour to finish it off, and then a small team of mods to carry it forward thereafter (not to mention marketing and Steam placement). That 3000 hours of labour can either take the form of 1.5 years with one programmer or a couple months if Paradox invests in a real team. Since the latter has about a 0.1% chance of happening, I guess I'll see you guys in a year and a half. Hopefully the game will be done and polished by then, and ready for the big time (or dead...probably dead).

Im all for this game being put on Steam. Personally enjoy steam and all the free stuff i get through it. It would also create a portal for people to get to know each other without using Kin.
