Hmm, so you can be just canoeing along with the Bonanza theme playing on your speakers having a grand 'ole time and then inadvertently cross someone's claim across the water and that alone leaves a scent enough to get you killed? Or do you have to drop your canoe on their claim and then pick it back up?

Exactly, but I didn't know much about scents at the time so I didn't check for that. I left the canoe right at the border, so I'm not sure if the game pushed me outside of the claim, or if I left scents at all.

A comrade that had larceny fetched the canoe for me afterwards...

You don't need criminal acts on to cross a claim on a canoe. I've lost mine in similar fashion and that culminated in the death of some friends.

I've reported that bug more than two weeks ago and it's still unanswered in Seatribe's bug tracker.

That's because it's not a bug. It is intended to be able to cross through claims while on water. Otherwise rivers would all have claimed sections and you'd never be able to go anywhere. As long as you don't get out of the boat on their claim you are fine.

Then it should at least disallow you from getting out of the canoe, in a similar manner that happens when you try to jump off on deep water with swimming turned off.

Why? Because getting out of the boat while it's in someone's claim means certain drowning? There are buttons that show pclaims and vclaims for a reason. Next time, toggle them on when cruising on your boat.

its not like its gonna make the game less "hardcore" its just a helper, like when you get a warning when trying to tresspass.
its not a game breaker just really nice to have and imo it should be in.

I was just talking about mechanics. I am aware of the buttons for p- and vclaim, but I wasn't at the time.

It's not meant to make you miserable. The ability to pass through pclaims while boating is a good thing. You probably should report the lack of a warning when you disembark as a bug. It very well might be unintended.

Edit: If it does happen again, trespassing isn't summonable, but larceny is. If you just leave the claim and give the canoe or boat up for lost, you'll only be out a canoe or boat, not lose your life.

I think you should not report the lack of a message when exiting your boat on a claim as a bug. I personally think it should be a suggestion. Can be added to the small suggestion thread.
