Obviously much less influencial than the 'Iron Lady' so that probably explains why he didnt have a military guard of honour, etc etc which she will be honoured with? I personally feel that the guard of honour is there so that people wont grab the coffin, open it and check she really is dead.
The point I am making here is that she is being made a special case, and Jehesus, why pick HER? She was in power over 20 years ago and people still loathe her. This is a woman who sent armed police against unarmed protesters and forever created a barrier between North and South and West and East, basically anyone who isnt in London lost out big time by her policies... and yet she is the only prime minister being given this honour. Yeah she has to be buried, but dont make it a bloody state funeral.

Sounds like the problem you have is that Churchill did not receive this honour. I agree with you there. He was one of the most important political figures of the 20th century.

Not sure what that has to do with Thatcher, though. She played an instrumental role in winning a potentially catastrophic war against a dangerous superpower, and her results on the economy speak for themselves. Whether or not you like her politics (I disagree with many of her positions), she was an important and beneficial figure in British history.

Totally she was a ahem, noteworthy pm, my problem is that the rules are being changed for her, and she was voted out of office by a landslide, and at least half the country hates her, and yet she is being buried by the 'British People'
Even Princess Diana didnt get a state funeral...
Who is burying her on my behalf? As a member of the British people... why is she different? THAT is my point. She is a historical figure, her policies etc will be judged in the future, but dont change the way we bury our politicians just for her. She wasnt a God, and she wasnt loved. And whether she did good for the country is debateable when we have no manufacturing base left, but all that is irrelevant. She is not different to all our other prime ministers. If none of them get a state funeral why the hell should she?

Was she not re-elected for like a decade? And was this not unprecedented for a woman?

She was the first woman prime minister, and also the reason there hasnt been a second, and yes she was re elected, the problem being that the votes were cast in such a way that Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, and most of the North of England voted against her, but the weight of the rest of the votes meant that she still got in. We now have proportional representation, or closer to it, which means the amount of people voting is more important than where they are. She was also responsible for Scotland and Wales forming their own parliaments.

Yup sums it up, she divided a country when she was alive, and is still doing it now shes dead. Maybe it is cos the conservatives are in power for the first time since she left... and that shows what she did for her party lol, Im just glad shes gone, she left so much hatred and bitterness in the communities she devestated, lets hope it can heal once this is over.

If I was alive and a Brit, I'm pretty sure I would have liked and voted for Margaret Thatcher.
