How about a market fair that lasts for 2-3 days every month where players can purchase stall license and set up shop within the claim of Boston (In addition to permanent stalls). Licenses are limited to, say 200-250 (maybe more since the claim is quite large), and sold by a special NPC who only appears in Boston a week before the fair. Players will need to bring materials to construct stalls and there,as suggested in previous posts, should be different commercial districts with different price range. Licenses should have different prices corresponding to district they represent. Prices could vary from 500-2k silver.People can sell and buy goods via stalls during the fair. After the period, all stalls will be wiped. Licenses should be trade-able.
Edit: I'm thinking stalls at fair should look like this

I like this idea as well. It would be like a monthly flea market event or something.

I agree, unless you are selling (actually has sales) something, your stall should be freed up, or perhaps there is a fee for every day that you don't have sales to stop someone simply using it as a storage with rediculous prices. The sales would have to be of a certain quantity & value to prevent players from buying their friends wares.
Market day would have no purpose - there is plenty of trade on the forums or irc channel.

It satisfies the needs of those who want a stall, simple as that :). Beside it also makes things easier for trades of different time zones and such.

I don't get why stalls should exist in the first place. The only justifiable cause was to force people to buy silver with real cash, but that was a one-time fee that is long due.

I assure you that activity and interactions between players was much higher back when there were no stalls.

Without stalls, people would trade with people from their own timezones, yeah. I don't see the problem. A village can have people from different timezones handle the trading so that you can still trade with that village 24/7 as a foreign trader.

What if instead of buying stalls people bought slots in the stall, people still might buy out the whole stall and not use it, but I think it would force people to be more conscious of how much they have to sell, and you could have multiple sellers on a single stall.

Make the stalls 1/4 the size.

Agreed.

The current stalls take up to much real estate for just on person.

Even 4 vendors per actual stall could help the space issue some.
