Simplify Cotton and Rye crop models

Seriously, I've reduced all the crop textures to 16x16 pixels (8x8 per stage) and I'm still only getting 10 FPS on my farm with 8 fields each of Cotton and Cereal in view. This is a tad ridiculous.

Possible changes:
-Fewer Leaves per plant
-Fewer polygons overall (straight stems?)
-Fewer plants per field
-Maybe see if there's some sort of bug that makes crops excessively resource intensive?

It's not a simple problem, since it involves sacrificing a great deal of artwork and undoing much of the intended look of the crops in order to make the resource demands tolerable on lower-end machines, but as it is there is a soft-cap on how many fields you can farm based on how low a frame-rate you're willing to tolerate, and your GPU temperature.

you can always try to use the 1x1 field graphical mod.
You might not be able to use the 1x1 fields anymore, but the mod should drastically lower the required computations & drawing complexity.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

That modifies salem.jar and so will get messed up with updates.

EnderWiggin said that he was able to get the same effect by just modifying the .res files in "terobjs/plants". I think I'll ask him how that's done.

How about an option to simplify crop graphics for future client?
We make sword stone for keeper and pull they do it and excalibur come out. have no make stone to for sword we make sword box for sword to put sword in for sword. -Moniker (Anarchy online)

Seeing how devs modified camera, which many people hate now, and they they didn't give us the possibility to choose - I'd say devs are not up for giving options ^^

It would seem that our only hope then lies with the Modders, the brave and few who dive into the untamed resources for the betterment of mankind. If only one of them would take it upon themselves to...

Something needs to be done about cotton.

I made a thread in bug a while ago.

I did not know the impact cotton large-scale had on performance and once my 100+ cotton fields hit stage 2 visual my game crashed at least 150 times in a day.
