Thank you for the data! Will you be doing larger batches in the future?

Also, the next result is in: With 75 S&C, 50 F&W and 50 NP there were 22 successes out of 50 pots with no sunflowers, or 44% success rate. I'd need to repeat this at least a few times to see if the increase in S&C actually did anything. I'll try to get at least another one round out before I increase NP.

That is the plan. I've been low on ****** compost - until this wonderful purity update came out. </sarcasm>

Is it worth raising F&W for tree planting? The description says: "Also increases your chance of successfully getting a cutting from a tree."

I have never had a problem getting a cutting from a tree...What impact does high F&W have on tree planting?

Think it puts like a quality thing on the cutting, combined with S&C and Nat Phil for result, not on whether you get a cutting
(Edit.. my F&W is now about 82-83 and successes have defo increased)

There's two "checks" that are made that determine if the cutting will sprout into a tree. These two checks are against your F&W and NP when you strike the cutting. The next is against your S&C and NP when you pot the cutting. Raising any of these three should increase your chances, although the trend seems to suggest that raising S&C, even to insane levels, does not have a great effect.

It's good to hear some reassuring words about F&W. My suspicion is that raising NP will have the greatest impact on success rate as it's involved in both checks, however we had data that suggests otherwise. Yourgrandmother reported the following:

Yourgrandmother wrote:Harvested 37/60 successful trees.

Frontier & Wildneress: 100
Natural Philosophy: 100
Stocks & Cultivars: 376

The real trick here is to find the point of diminishing returns. It seems like with base skills you have around 30% success rate. At all 50's it goes up to 40%. I'm willing to bet that we'll see 50% at around 75, and maybe never reach 75%.

The purpose of this thread is to find out what skill levels you need to consistently hit 50% of planted cuttings turning into trees (and not sunflowers) for 100% sustainable tree farming.

I have planted more trees but I haven't improved proficiencies since last time. My success rate is at 33.33% right now.
I will keep up my statistics but my focus right now is to get my humus in order. I have also potted my first purity test subject. But that's a different topic.
