simple way to prevent atl character storages

Postby kozzy680 » Wed Apr 10, 2013 9:35 pm

How about automaticly storing all items from invetory when player logs out to homestead dedicated storage ? (so it could get stolen potentialy)

I think fact that you can create 100 characters and store items within them 100% safely is quite not so fun.
Its maybe even faster and than crafting wooden storage box and tons of walls and defes.
I can imagine some crazy nolife people can store all important items like that and those that have lives and better stuff to do with them than storing items all day and creating alts all day are quite in disadvantage. :)

update:
-After you log back items will apear in yours inventory so no item teleporting abuse.(should be pickuble only as crime act) If you chose to give items to other char to teleport them you can do that today also via towns.
- if you dont have homeastead box will apear on ground with yours stuff instad.

update2: or even better and more hard core mode teleport entire character to base if he logs out so if you woud like to get his items you would have to kill it (effectivly prevents item teleports). teleport it back to original location once you log back.

i'm always happy to read propositions about this problem.
I'm yet to find ideas that don't have gigantic holes / drawbacks to normal people in them.

What happens to people that don't have a homestead (like almost every altvault?)
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

What's to stop someone in this system from filling up their character's inventory with say raided items, logging out, having all their inventory being automatically sent to storage at home, logging back in filling up again, until everything you once owned is now safely transported to their homestead?

devs agree with this being a issue but your idea doesn't fix it. They have been thinking of a way to fix it for a very long time.

Yup. I think I could dig a post from around 2010 (maybe 2009?) up in the Haven & Hearth forums about it.

Excess items sent to the storage being automatically deleted if their storage is full. Also if other people want to access the storage, they should only be able to do so through theft, in such manner that Crime Debuff applies and nearby braziers shoot you.

Stealing them should be always crime even if you permit yours kins to picku up items or once you steal it you should get buff that would prevent abusing this.
