Corn! Huh, Good God Ya'll, What is it Good For?

Postby qbradq » Tue Apr 09, 2013 5:49 am

Absolutely nothing?

Once I found a dry goods back full of cornmeal and an oiling trough full of corn oil. I made me some cornbread and it was decent heal food considering it was free. But seriously, the oil yield from corn is terrible, and without purity in cornmeal it has no real use after the early stages of farming (even with the new system).

So, do any of you find a use for corn? Anything that makes growing it worth while?

While we're at it, can someone tell me how many ears of corn and seed you get from a 100% purity field? I'm trying to update some Wiki articles.

Thanks.

i think thats the the point.. at the moment is has no purity once ground... once it gets purity it will make for a nice food to go with the basic cereal foods.

However, (the last purity grind sort of screwed things up) BUT you can make decent popcorn as a phlegm food if your not into growing pumpkins or just dont like the thought of eating the same 4 foods.

corn oil does maintain its purity when pressed.

Some of the tiered corn foods would be nice as well if only corn kept its purity, not sure why this hasnt been addressed..

I can think of 1 reason for growing corn. There will be more drama to come on this forum so popcorn will be needed
Jokes aside, I grow corn. It's quite fast and corn pudding doesn't need much.

There's also oiled boards. Since corn doesn't have purity yet I felt it to be idiotic to use the corn for my compost. I didn't want to waste my other leftover seeds to make oil for boards. Instead they go to my compost bins.

Hopefully there will be corn purity added soon.

I'm starting to suspect that corn's purity bug didn't get addressed because the devs were waiting to address the purity grind. Loftar in particular seems to be firmly against the "super foods" we had / have.

I'm referring to this reply:

I ran corn fields since January on 260% speed.

Probably 80-90 total harvests got purity up to 60-70% with 2 fields/element. It wasn't an easy crop to grow purity compared to cereal and had no purposes. Now with the humus update I doubt I'll ever grow corn again.
