Character Vanished From Account

I had a secondary account with a character that I was at one point using as a key/silver holder. I got to the point where he was not needed to do either of these things and used him to scope out an area where there was a large raid and a destroyed base. (completely empty inventory/no upgrades) I remember very clearly deciding to leave the character logged out in an area with a high volume of stumps for some point down the road where I was bored and just wanted to see if I could get lucky and find something of value.

Today I went to login and the character is simply gone, it is no longer in the list of available characters.

Is there any way of telling if this is a bug or if the character was simply killed somehow? I do not recall being in combat when I logged out, there was nobody nearby that I was aware of and the character had nothing aside from its initial childish things skill, so could I have left summonable scents?

I am not worried about it being gone as the character had no valuables on them and no value to me, but I am awfully surprised to see it missing and want to make sure this isnt a bug. Any advice would be appreciated.

In trying to snipe something of value, perhaps you logged out on a claim? As a result, you were kept in the game, and someone came along to smoke you?

I cannot rule that out, though I do not recall there being a claim in the area I logged out. Is there a way to tell if my character was in fact killed? Maybe by making a new character with the same name? Though I had no claim to inherit, so I am not sure if that would do anything.

And to be clear, by snipe something of value I meant from the many hollow stumps in the area. The character was not at all developed and had no ability to steal/commit crimes.

The absolute only reason your character is gone from your account is that he is dead. Your character died some how, not a bug.

You can make a new character on the same account, and go to the inheritence office on the starting docks. If you can inherit your old characters legacy, then it did infact die.

You could also go back to where you had 'logged out' the character and see if there are any murder scents.

Yep spot on, made a new character and there is an inheritance from the old missing character I guess I must have logged out on a claim as suggested earlier. Thanks for the help everyone.

Could a mod please close this thread at their earliest convenience?

Same for quitting game on a vclaim. People just stand there still logged on for the mercy of who ever passes by

Interesting, well either way its a good thing I learned this lesson with an alt and not a character with time invested in it. Though oddly enough my main reason for bringing this alt to the area I did was to check out the recent raid on Clouddogs base. So this may have been one of the "defenders" mentioned in the thread, makes me laugh a bit.
