Purity and all that

Postby forge » Sat Apr 06, 2013 4:28 pm

So now with the last change how do we get high purity fields again. The update seemed to say something about needing wood for a purity compost bin or something? What are the steps needed to get fields back on track? Or has nothing changed and all we need is high purity water for food? Sometimes complexity does not equal fun.

Currently, as far as I see it, the grind consists of the following:

pure humus => pure trees => pure boards

pure boards => pure compost bins for more pure humus

and also pure boards => pure clay troughs for pure clay for pure gardening pots for more pure trees
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

It's a circle though, so if you have zero purity to start. How can you ever get started? Give a example.

For instance all my humus is zero.. What exactly is required to get to 1% or 3% etc.

There's a random factor involved in purity calculations, and over time, it should slowly creep up. Even with 0% pure wood and nails, people are pulling humus out of their bins with alchemical properites, so bins don't act as a hardcap. This means you just need to start foraging and make sure your bin only takes one element if you want to push your crops in a particular direction. Eventually, after much labor and replantings, your things will start getting better and better purity.

Do nails matter in the bin? I dont see any purity on nails currently. So how can I tell what those are?

Nails have no purity yet.

This is only the first update of several that are coming to add purity development mechanics to the game. Until it's done, it's going to be difficult to write an accurate guide for any of it.

You know as much as the rest of us at this point. Test and see what you get. If you do, be nice and report it to the rest of us. ;)

I think you can ignore all this complication until you have seeds with good quality. My crappy cabbage (18%) is improving even with 0% humus. So if you have nothing just work it the old way. And then start to grow good trees.

Does what you put in the humus bin effect it as well.. or only what the bin is made out of?
